I think Census taking started in 1801 but it wasn't until 1841 that names and ages etc were included, think 1801-1841 was just number of occupants for population counts.

my only other suggestion at this time is that if he had any children with the mother of your relation (obviously before he had time to marry) a birth certificate for that child?? either that or was he a policeman from the sheffield area but not killed in Sheffield??? other than that try contacting South Yorks police themselves maybe they can shed some light??

do you know the officer in question??? look for death details on free-BMD etc if you can narrow down a time of death you can check local newspapers at central library!! Sorry just realised your in OZ??? maybe somebody in Sheffield can look up any newspaper details for you if you do know more specific's. Or try the library by email, they have been very good at giving me copies of paper details for a family members suicide, but given that i knew dates due to death certificate!

Hi I'm trying to find some information on the above mentioned House. I have found from census returns that my ancestors, Jonas Cotton & family, lived here from 1901,1911 & then listed as his address at time of death in 1919. On the 1891 census he's a assistant pork butcher. living at Nunnery Farm. But in 1901 he is living at Woodbourn House listed as a Stone Quarry Garter (Employer). strangly on 1911 census he's just a colliery labourer, his son listed as a colliery deputy. I guess they would have been working at the Nunnery Colliery? Not sure how much longer after Jonas' death the family remained at the house but would love to know any information about the house, where abouts on woodbourn road it would have stood, as I doubt very much it still stands given the redevelopment of the area. Percy is on 1911 census listed as Winstanley with mother Florence a widow, they are living at 238 Solly street, boarding with the Emmingham family. Let me know if you would like a copy of the image! there's a death registered in Jun quarter of 1905 in Sheffield for a Robert Winstanley aged 43? Martin

Hi Minimo, I think what your doing is great, I do the same with my ancestry subscription whenever I have free time or hit a brick wall, but please be careful of the fair usage policy find my past have, it limits you to an average 5000 credits a month over a 3 month period, this works out at less than 6, 1911 images a day. at the moment i've been subscribed 4 days and viewed over 50 1911 images so they soon add up. I was lucky enough to have blades win 3-2 on ladbrokes at 25-1, ok only had 50p but had more on draw or owls taking lead. trust me never sweat my balls as much as in this game!!!!!!!

Hi Momoran & others, can anyone possible tell me who lived at 115 Hastilar Road in 1946. This is the address given as place of deathon my gr-grandmother death certificate 15th february 1946. She actually lived at 55 Manor Oaks Close. Cheers Martin

Just looking into it, actually they lived a 55 Manor Oaks Close (other end of Manor, easy mistake, lol). But on her death certificate, under when & where died it gives 115 Hastilar Road. She was Florence Shirt otherwise Warrington. So not sure if she was visiting a relative, would be nice if anyone knows who lived here at that time. Martin

Just found this on Wikipedia under Leroy Lita's career. "Leroy then joined Bristol City on 20th July 2009, signing a 3 year contract after turning down offers from Bristol City and Crystal Palace." It states he's joined Bristol City today - however it then goes on to say he turned down offers from Bristol City & Crystal Palace???? At least that clears everything up, lol

Just read on sky that the blades have signed KYEL REID, he's free as was out of contract at West Sham.
