  1. Let's get honest, forget religion, that's not the real issue. The world (well, planet earth) would be a LOT better off without people.
  2. Here's an idea ...... Life coaching buddies. 2 people get together who want to improve their life situations, and take it in turn to coach each other. Spend time on identifying weak areas and planning stratagies for improvement. I think going through the process of helping someone else, is also extremely empowering for yourself.
  3. Sure, but I was dealing with a reputable software development company, I felt pretty safe. I did actually use an account, not with my main bank, but pretty much an inactive one, with something like £3.52 in it !! If someone did have my account number, sort code, international bank account number etc ... can they withdraw finds ? how so ?
  4. I've accepted electonic funds transfer before, it's fast too. Ask your bank about it.
  5. So Xafier ... Did you get anything sorted ?! Are you meditating twice daily yet !?
  6. I'd recommend it neeeeeeeeeek, maybe a good idea to find your own time and space to practice. Mornings are ideal, and follow it up with a little meditation / reading etc.
  7. Spell checking C / ARM asm code !? ... I'll just have to get used to it, like the other poster said, it'll keep me on my toes and prevent me from being programmed to the use on one keyboard. Phan: Users on the new 'hat input device' will be free to self destruct, just by thinking 'self destruct'. Luckily the device comes with instructions ... do not think 'self destruct' if you value your life ... *poooof* ... ooops !!
  8. Not sure I lasted the whole week neeeeeeeeeek, but my nutrition intake is defo improving, eating more healthly (fresh fruits etc) and avoiding KFC. Have a much improved daily routine too (tai chi / training / reading / quiet time in the morning). Going to do the week without dairy once again, starting now, specifically looking for a reduction in muucus (sp?) in nasal passages and head.
  9. Could be both ... On the one hand, you could call it positive thinking, focussing on a positive outcome and having a belief that everything will be fine. On the other ... I think it's good to be mindfull of possible 'negative outcomes' and cover your bases and be prepared for s**t happening.
  10. Thing is Wilf, I'm a ok on my laptop now (new toy syndrome an all that) ... I guess I could always get a ps2 -> usb converter, and use my desktop keyboard on my lappy. It's interesting how the human nervous system gets programmed through repetetive actions / habits like typing. Soon all computer input will be done via special hats, that pick up electrical energy emmited from out brains, and converts it in to words ...
  11. Has anyone else noticed this ... Before I had my lappy, I was using the same keyboard 24/7, and the coordination part of my brain was 'programmed' for my desktops' keyboard. I then bought a lappy, and been using it for about a month now, and I've lost my ability to type on my old keyboard. Damn annoying it is !!! Anyone else have this problem? Every other key-stoke is the delelte key !!! Solutions, please !!?
  12. What annoys me is that people think it's bad to stare in at someone ... but then it's ok to stare out at someone.
  13. That's ok. All sins are forgiven my child ...
  14. I wish people would learn how to use the quote facility correctly ...
  15. We *are* god. We are inseperable from the oneness of all life. We are part and parcel of everything that is. Just as all the individual drops in the ocean, are the ocean itself (there is an ocean, and she flows within herself - don). That we invent these religions and belief systems, is a result of our inherent nature; our need to have the unknown become known. We can't just be comfortable with the unknown, we run from it, like from our own shadow, instead of embracing and being consumed by it, like a child with its mother. If there is anything to fear, it is the known, not the unknown. One concerning trend I notice in our species, is how we feel threatened by those who do not share our world view, tolerant creatures that we are (!) hmmm ...
  16. A remarkable character indeed Deavon, however, the problem with the 'system' is that it will only support and encourage individuals who agree with its policies; 'yes men', who don't threaten the existing internal balance of power within the system. Anyone who speaks out and tells it like it is, won't get very far in this day and age. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just the impression of get.
  17. yep i know ... i was refering to the index .........
  18. To represent such a massive chunk of data in 1 bit ... How would you know the size of the (uncompressed) data ?
  19. Probably a *lot* more. 200 x 200 = 40,000 pixels so ... 256 * 256 * 256 * ... (you basically do that 40,000 times). 256 to the power of 40,000 ? ... (may be the correct mathematical notation).
  20. Women also have more emotional intelligence and more caring and know just what to say. Wish I did.
  21. Forgot to add, women are also better at suspecting ulterior motives than men are, something else they're better at !! Me? After something? No ... Just being honest !!! (hehehe ) (actually, if you want my honest response, intelligence comes in all kinds of colours and flavours, it can't be measured, and as don once said, precious little do we think with out hearts and not our minds).
  22. Nooooooooooooooo don't let 'him' have the last word !! Women are way more intelligent than men, and more lovely, beautiful, sweet, pretty, better at ironing etc ...

There is also a Salsa night this saturday @ the Royal Institute for the Blind (on Maplin st, just off West street), from 8 till 12. The following is a new class / social, and is more for people already dancing, but beginners are welcome too, the more the merrier really. the Mambo Collective Social Fortnightly event starting September 14th 2005 8 - 9pm Improver/Intermediate Class 9 - 12am Dancing Cost: £4 with class, £3 without. Bar Matrix 4 Charter Square Sheffield, S1 4HS And of course, the Forum on division street, 7.30 for classes, it's tonight (and every Tuesday). Just to clarify on the partner situation ... Come with or without partner, it really doesn't matter to be honest, don't let the fact that you don't have a regular dance partner stop you! It's a friendly scene and people usually dance with one another anyway.
