  1. It should be real easy to fit a new graphics card mate. Do a google search and you'll find some good installation guides that'll help. No need to pay someone else when you can teach yourself.
  2. Thanks for all the help folks. I decided to go with the RADEON 9600 XT 256MB AGP and managed to win a bid on ebay (paid £56). In a couple of days you can expect another thread from me. something along the lines of: "Help needed!! Computer completely buggered!!" Cheers again, P
  3. My computer gets used for two things mainly: 1)Photoshop/Illustrator for doing my design work 2)Playing Half Life 2 for shooting people in the face Unfortunatly I cant afford the graphics cards that I'd want so I'll settle for a small upgrade.
  4. ...or pehaps this: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3GLG

  6. I suspected it might be a language thing. I'll post any links like you asked, two heads better thean one
  7. OK one more question and it's probably a stupid one. Is there any difference between a Video card and a graphics card?
  8. Oh and one more question, If I bought a graphics card from the USA or China would I be able to use it on my PC?
  9. Not sure what motherboard I have to be honest. My stats read: I-media 1702 Athlon 64 3200xp 1GB RAM 200GB Sata Hard drive Radeon 9200 Probably doesn't help much though.
  10. Hey everyone merry xmas to you all, hope it was a good one. I've decided that because I've been a very good boy this I deserve a present (I said the very same thing a couple of weeks ago when I bought some new memory and a new sound card!!) so I'm going to treat myself to a new graphics card. But i have one small question before i do. Alot of the AGP cards say they are either x8 or x4. What the difference? How can I tell if my computer is x8 or x4? Does it even matter? Big cheers and a happy new year to you all P
  11. I know they've got a really bad rep but Bulldog have improved no end since I joined up in the summer. Unlike a few months ago I now have a very consisted line connection and hardly ever experience drop outs (when I do the line connects again straight away). They also refunded me £75 for all the ****-ups and increased my speed from 4meg to 6.5meg. Thier customer service/ technical derpartment have also vastly improved. On top of this they've got McAfee secruity suite you can download and their own music download store as well as an online Tv channel. P
  12. Your PC seems pretty well spec'd although more hard drive space is never a bad thing. Maplin Electronics have some good deals on at the moment for both external and internal drives. P
  13. it's gotta be itunes, it aint perfect but it aint far off either. Check out this online tuner: http://www.pandora.com/?cmd=tuner P
  14. I agree with everything you say beeper, unfortunatly it's a project for uni and one of the requirment is that we use quark, ironic that in three years time when I head off to te big bad world of design Adobe will have in all likleyhood bougth both quark and Macromedia. Cheers anyway mate P
  15. Cheers mate. I also found this forum (if you'd looked a little more you would have seen a post by trentboy2) and I've tried the same but no luck. But I may well have misunderstood what they meant. In my reply I've asked them to emphasis a bit. Tommorrow I'm off in to Uni so I'll grab one of our techs and asked if he know of any solutions that might work. Thanks for making the effort fella. P
  16. If know one know of a valuers then maybe a few shops that sell antiques would be helpful Cheers P
  17. Sorted, done and done. Cheers again mate. P
  18. Nice one fella, love the animation of the airplanes you did in year 2 and the product design for that mp3 is really quite something else. I've just started at Hallam doing Packaging and graphics hence the need to fix Quark (even though it look like it aint gonna happen). P
  19. In an effort to fix my copy of QuarkExpress I followed the advice of someone on a different forum which suggested that if I uninstall all my fonts then reinstall them my copy of quark would be fixed, they were wrong. Now whenever I go to my Firefow homepage of my gmail account I can not read whats in front of me because the fonts have gone all a bit wonky Chewbacca. Does anyone know how to change the fonts back to thier orginal form on Firefox/Google. I would look on their help pages but I cant bloody read it! Big Cheers P
  20. Just checked out your website daleam where's your portfolio dude, no ones gonna buy your work if they cant see what there gettin'
  21. Crap or not it's still industry standard. Besides it is incredably easy to use which makes it more accessable to the masses, unlike Adobe products which can scare people if they don't know how to use them. But inevitably Adobe will takes the reigns from Quark which I'm also ok with. I intially had 6.1 when the problem first occured and I've just tried 6.5 and still no luck.
  22. Nah tried that and got nothing, think I might have to resort to InDesign (Adobe) which isn't a bad thing I'm just used to using quark. P
  23. I'm having a problem running my QuarkXpress, it keeps coming up with a runtime error whenever I try and load it and it looks like I'm not the only one either. I have read on several forums now about a few people who have had the same error but no one seems to have a viable solution. Any Sheffieldittes out there that knows his/her stuff and can help me I'd be most grateful. Cheers P
