  1. As ya know im a owl , I just read what JP Said , I think its good that hes open and stated things , im not saying hes straight down line as I don't know the bloke or not a utd fan .

As has been stated , hes very transparent and listens to the fans.

He can often be found having a pint with fans in the cricks before matches.

He also has a boss ( The Prince ) to answer to and so yes he might tell us what we want to hear but, hes readily available and not too often will he disappear when its gone horribly wrong , and he will also say that hes flying out and wont be available for a few days.

Its refreshing for the Blades to have this fella in charge and I for one will back his decisions to the hilt

  2. That's surely a question NO one person can answer. Transfer fees these days are undisclosed and the wages of players signed are anybody's guess.

Apart from the £1.5 Million for John Brayford and the £600,000 we paid for Billy Sharp but according to at least one owl says no major money has been invested in the Blades.

Again I will ask when was the last time a League one club payed £1.5 Million for a player ?

Oh and I forgot , our new pitch was free right ?

  3. I'm not an accountant so even looking at uniteds book I wouldn't know what investment has gone into the first team, Phipps's message doesn't tell me that either, the current league position and reasonably regular sale of players would suggest that (only suggest) that something is awry at the club, I'm posting on this forum in the forlorn hope that some United fans may join in the debate and perhaps enlighten the rest of us, what you and some others tend to do is go on the defensive and start muck raking old news about the Owls, I can only say and react to what I see and read about Sheffield United and form opinions, it's up to United fans who choose to contribute to a mixed forum to offer alternate opinions, not to get in a flap about it.

The thread about our chairman (last time I looked) was a reasonable debate with contributions from both side, look and learn.

The thread where I assume it was a dig at our chairman but then you will say NO it wasn't even though it was.

Oh so now you aren't an accountant but you were all knowing about Uniteds lack of spending etc just a few short hours ago.

We spent £1.5 Million on Brayford and £600,000 on Billy Sharp , I don't know if I got a reply from you about our lack of spending but , I did see the comment about us selling players which should be PLAYER as there is only Murphy I am aware of this season.

6th in League one isn't something I am worried about , If we get to wembley for a playoff final this season , I will be there again cheering on the Blades win or lose and if we lost AGAIN :hihi: I would still be a Blade when I woke up the next morning.

Not in a flap to be honest Top , I think you are making things out to be worse than they are at BDTBL ...

Would I like the Blades to be running away with the league this season ...SURE I WOULD , did I think they would NO

Long way to get yet , Its still only October and 31 matches and 93 points to play for :D

  4. The problem with stats is that you can manipulate them how you want.

Take away Cech, Mertersacker, Walcott (brief appearance) Giroud and Ox (can hardly consider he 'played').

Debuchy, started 1 game this year.

Bennacee, never played for Arsenal before.

Iwobi, never played for Arsenal before.

Kamara, never played for Arsenal before.

Bielik, never played for Arsenal before.

Campbell, never started a PL game for Arsenal and no PL appearances this season.

Flamini, 2 appearances in the PL this year, 1 as a sub.

Chambers, 2 appearances in the PL this year, 1 as a sub.

Gibbs, 3 PL appearances this year, all as a sub. To consider him an 'up and coming' England player at 26 is stretching it too.

So from those 9, they have 3 starts in the Premier League this season.

When you consider it all, only 3 prominent players played enough in the game to be considered actually playing.

It's a fantastic result, no doubts about it, so I don't see why people are trying to make it out to be even better than it is.

Absolutely a great result but only Cech , Oxlade - Chamberlin and Giroud played that started vs Everton.

No Cazorla , Ozil , Sanchez or Koscielny to name a few , don't think if they played it would be 3-0 but again as has been said before you can only beat whats put in front of you , Im sure wenger was looking ahead to more important matches like Swansea, Bayern Munich and Spurs

  5. Does it really matter who played, the records will read Sheffield Wednesday 3, Arsenal 0 and that is all that will matters, and I was there.

    :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi:

tell that to the owls who never stopped saying it was reserve Premiership sides the Blades beat on all our cup runs ...

  6. But to be fair, hes not worrying about it is he,its just a discussion but certain blades don't seem to accept that whenever anything negative is said, but I agree its not a matter of life and death.

The same as certain owls Gazza, come on pal you have been on here long enough to know that , it goes both ways.

One person in particular TOP keeps having a go at Jim Phipps and our board and the lack of spending , not sure why it concerns him so much TBH , I guess he was at his 5 star hotel without wifi when we signed John Brayford for £1.5 million and Billy Sharp for a reported £600,000 --- Not bad for a poor League one side , anyway to let you Blades accountants know that's over £2 Million spent from the Cup run money.

Phipps listens to what the fans have to say , sure he spins some stuff and tells us what we want to hear but I prefer that to some of the absolutely horrible chairman we have had over the years as you have , in fact yours were worse.

  7. If I meet him I'm gladly shake his hand for the gift that keeps on giving that is united - hilarious and don't think for one minute that I'm not afraid to say to someone what I type on here.

Phipps can tell me what he wants, facts are that your still in L1 with no immediate sign of getting out of it, either the investment is not enough or its not been invested correctly, no amount of spin can disguise that fact.

See the earlier post from Robbie Loving.

I just don't see why you are sooooo concerned about DEM BLADES , its the only thing on here that's hilarious.

The owls were the gift that kept on giving until a few years ago , Its your turn on the swings enjoy it and make sure you are around and not at a 5 star hotel with no wifi when you are on the roundabout :P:P

P.S. No immediate sign of getting out of League one , playing bobbins and in 6th place , agree with some on here this will be our best chance this season as it is the weakest its been in years , just wish we could have some luck like you did to get into the Championship

  8. ITS A MIXED FORUM, IF YOU CAN'T TAKE IT STAY AWAY!!!

The current threads alude to the Owls commendable defeat of Arsenal and the inactivity of uniteds "rich" board, I have commented on both but uniteds is funnier :hihi::hihi:

We are a League one team in a tin pot league which all Blades acknowledge , we spent over half a million on a fat lad from Sheffield , when was the last time a league one team spent that on a player ( answers on the worlds smallest postcard )

The only thing I find funny is your constant worry about DEM BLADES.

  9. Phipps and Mccabe are current incumbants and fully warrant slagging off.

I'm sure the 15,000 will enjoy it as much as they enjoyed the Wycombe match, what were you up to that weekend.

Slagging off from an obsessed about the Blades supposed owl fan :hihi::hihi:

Even in the comments on the Arsenal matchday thread its all about DEM BLADES , You know the sly little digs from owls :hihi::hihi:

The Wycombe weekend I was hoping you would lose and the Blades would win , why would it be different from any other weekend ????

    ---------- Post added 28-10-2015 at 07:23 ----------

Seeing as yours wasn't the post above thats something else you got wrong, roll on another blades defeat so you can vanish for a few days again :hihi:

Never vanish so you cant pull that old chestnut , I suppose I could come on days later after a loss and say I was at a 5 star hotel with poor or no wifi ...Oh hang on that one was already used :hihi::hihi::hihi:

  10. Off for sweet dreams now fellas - early start tomorrow and I have a Forest fan colleague to torment :hihi:

Oh before I go - I have to have me a play with Longy's nana's too! ;):hihi:

    :banana::banana::banana:

Was giving it large to an Arsenal fan at work when it was 1-0 and 2-0 , then he rang me about a job when it was 3-0 ..Told him in no uncertain terms to ........ :hihi::hihi:

  11. Yet right pal it's up there with the best, not just the result but the way we took a team of internationals apart.

Not to take the shine off what was a great unexpected win , well I thought Arsenal would bore you into submission and win 1-0.

EVERY SINGLE TIME the Blades beat a Premiership team in the Cups it was because we played a reserve side. So can I be the first to say well done on beating Arsenal reserves :hihi::hihi:

    http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/165/10046335/arsenals-experienced-players-let-youngsters-down-says-paul-merson

  12. Especially when some teams only get 16,000+ for an identical game.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/7065196.stm

    Even with 'cheap' tickets.

Oh dear and Top just berated me for going back 6 years to make a point about your ex chairman Stafford and then he laughs at your post ...

Enjoy your Cup final tonight owls , Its been a while since you had a meaningful cup game ... 1993 I would imagine because we wont talk about the 0-7 at Man City.

For Potty , Luke , Nervy etc hope you get something out of this match tonight

  13. I don't get this. What are you trying to say?

Does a relegation mean he didn't love the club? If so, what does that say about Mr McCabe?

There's nothing else in your copy and paste that doesn't do Lee Strafford credit. He wrested control from the deadbeats that were 'running' the club after Dave Richards and helped make the Mandaric takeover possible. Is it the whistle blowing that you don't like? Please tell.

Oh my mistake , Top is making it out that we have the worst board ever in Phipps and McCabe but the goings on at Hillsborough were out of this world :hihi:

If Stafford had kept running you with his feel good factor and spin you would have gone bust.

Sheffield United will be solvent under McCabe and never get into the mess you lot did EVER and that's a FACT.

  14. Is it that bad at the Lane (yes) that you have to resort to slagging a chairman off from 6yrs ago :help:

Says the fella who constantly slags off Phipps, McCabe and anyone else associated with the Blades . get that ulcer sorted and get to Hillsborough tonight and say hello to the missing 15,000 owls who haven't been there since the Wycombe match :hihi::hihi:

  15. No he was not but, Strafford was from the Cross the first sound he ever heard was on Boxing day 1979,:hihi: blew him out of the pram so his Granma says.

and he just loved the owls didn't he ????

Strafford became chairman of Sheffield Wednesday on 7 January 2009 and quickly made significant changes to the club including signing a charitable sponsorship deal with Sheffield Children's Hospital.[2][3] However, it was announced on 17 May 2010 that Strafford had resigned, having failed to ensure that the club stayed in the Football League Championship caused by apparent major disruption within the boardroom.[4] Following his resignation Strafford engaged in a corporate whistle-blowing process, exposing various issues which directly contributed to the club's plight, a plight which almost resulted in the club being placed into administration

  16. No ulcer here mate this season is great so far and the bitterness of the blades (see the post above) is hilarious, its better for your health than a week in the Carribbean :hihi::hihi:

Well in less than 4 weeks I will going to the Caribbean for the 2nd time in about 5 months and my health is great .... By thinking my post about Stafford and the feel good factor is a bitter post is hilarious and makes me :hihi::hihi::hihi:

  17.

Lets talk about the Millwall game and your inability to win those highly attended home games with regularity.

Playing poorly and an inability to win the highly attended games and still 6th in the League ...Now just wait til Brayford and a couple of the other injured players get back and we will be just fine and that big Blades ulcer of yours will go away :hihi:

  18. I can't remember us getting 25k on a regular basis last season, they are down slightly this season but are not unaffordable, like I said earlier the opposition are getting the best value at your place at the moment.

Any views on the Millwall game now your back?

    I never went away.

Yeah got a link to your matches last season , thought you were more massive than you actually think you are , attendances were around what we get at BDTBL
