We are looking for volunteers to help for a couple of hours on the above dates, if you are free please call or text Katie on 07884180517 or reply to this thread. The dates again are the 8th, 9th & 10th March 2018 at Morrison's Halfway. We'll provide you with everything you need including a tray of Daffodils, collection tin, hat and tabard and after your collection we'll take everything back from you and you are welcome to join me for a cuppa in the café. A 2 hour collection can raise up to £100 so your support would be massively appreciated. Thanks so much and looking forward to hearing from anyone willing to volunteer, Katie

  3. The local Marie Curie Cancer Care office in Sheffield are desperate for volunteers to help at our collection at the Asda on Manor Top either Friday 7th, Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th March - can you help? You would be giving daffodil pin badges to the public visiting the supermarket in return for donations as part of our Great Daffodil Appeal. So if you can spare an hour or two next weekend to help please call Rebecca on 0114 279 3010. Thank you.
  4. For those of you who haven't already made and failed at a New Year's resolution, I wondered whether anyone reading this had made one to help out a bit more in their local community? Marie Curie Cancer Care provides free nursing care to terminally ill people in their own homes throughout Sheffield. It costs £20 per hour to support one of our nurses, and we are lucky enough to have lovely volunteers across Sheffield who give their time and enthusiasm to raise funds for this very worthwhile cause. If you have watched enough Cash In the Attic, if you want to meet fellow like-minded caring people in your local area, and if no other charity will do, please pick up the phone and contact Kate on 0114 279 3010 to offer to help fundraise in 2014. We are looking forward to hearing from you, many thanks, and I wish you all a happy and healthy 2014.
  5. Marie Curie Cancer Care really needs your help next Friday, by donning a yellow Father Christmas hat and helping us collect money to support our Sheffield Marie Curie nurses! We are Christmas collecting next Friday - 22nd November on Sheffield Fargate and need as many feet on the street as possible. Anytime between 9am and 5pm we would love you to offer to help! Please give a few hours to help someone in their final hours- every £20 raised pays for a nurse for a hour, who helps terminally ill patients die in their homes, in peace and comfort, with their loved ones around them. We would really appreciate your support, and know that the families of those the nurses are supporting in Sheffield would be very grateful. Please contact the office on 0114 279 3010 to offer your support. Thank you.
  6. Do you know a school or nursery across South Yorkshire that would like to take part in Marie Curie Cancer Care's youth appeal - Mini Pots of Care? All money raised help to fund the local Marie Curie nurses. Closing date for registrations is Friday 4th October 2013 Mini Pots of Care is an interactive and creative way for children to learn about science, nature and caring whilst making a positive difference to the lives of people with terminal cancer and other illnesses. Children taking part will be given their own pot and daffodil bulb to plant in autumn. They will then care for the plant until it blooms into a daffodil in spring, getting sponsored to do so. Children celebrate their blooms on Mini Pots of Care Fundraising Day in February by learning about the charity, fundraising and painting pot wrappers. Mini Pots are taken home by children to give to someone they care about and to gain donations from family and friends. We provide planting kits free of charge and there are additional resources available to you online to use as part of the appeal. For your school or nursery to take part, call Rebecca on 0114 279 3010 or email rebecca.turner@mariecurie.org.uk
  7. Sean Jarvis, from Sheffield is organising a 5k run or walk in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield to raise money in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. The event will be held on Saturday 5th October, starting at 6pm and is open to all! Entry is £10 for adults and £5 for children, with all money raised helping to fund the local Marie Curie nurses across South Yorkshire. Sadly, Sean recently lost his Mother through cancer which has spurred him on to organise his event. The Marie Curie nurses were able to give supportive care at the time and so Sean would like to give something back. All entrants will receive a medal upon finishing! Due to the time of the event, all participants are advised to bring a torch. For more information, please contact Sean Jarvis on 07720 778010.
  8. Marie Curie Cancer Care is asking the people of Sheffield to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party this June and July to help raise funds for the charity. It can be as simple as a cuppa with colleagues, a vintage inspired tea party or garden party with friends. It’s a great way to get together with friends and family to do something easy and fun for charity. The money raised from Blooming Great Tea Parties will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes. Katie Grinter, Community Fundraiser said: “Whether you’re a dab hand at baking cakes or simply enjoying a cuppa with friends is more your cup of tea, holding a Blooming Great Tea Party is a fun way to get together and raise funds for an important cause. However big or small your tea party, by taking part you will be helping to raise the crucial funds that make it possible for Marie Curie Nurses to provide care for people with terminal illnesses at the time when they need it most.” For more information and to sign up for your free Blooming Great Tea Party fundraising pack, visit http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/teaparty or call 08700 340 040.
