  1. Sorry to hear its ruined your nails, some technicians annoy me so much being lazy and not doing things properly gives us a bad name. Any nail treatment done properly will not ruin, damage or hurt in the process it's the application and removal that does the damage. Gelish is an amazing product provided your tech does follows proper guidelines for it. I know we are in a recession but if something's really cheap it's cheap for a reason. I know a lot of salons claim to offer shellac and other well known branded treatments like gelish but there actually fakes! So becareful. Best advice I can give you to find an actual salon/technician that offers genuine treatments is to go on net and visit either CND (makers of shellac) salon finder or nail harmony (gelish makers) salon finder and they will list them for you.
  2. oh im having HD brows on friday with my friend by a mobile lady who i've found, her mobile business is called glam beautique ill let you know how they turn out. dont suppose anyone has else had HD brows from this woman? I always have my nails done with Nail lab and also started having my spray tan with her they are always fab very professional and very reasonably priced she has an offer on at the minute with spray tan and gelish nails for 26.50 but it finishes at the end of april. the tan is one of the best i have had, no orange tinge what so ever, she is absolutely fab!

  6. also if your going to be using ur car for business you need to make sure u change ur insurance to business. You will need to register with revenue and customs as self employed aswell. Its very hard work getting established, takes a lot of dedication and hard work u have to persist no matter how quiet things get and u always have to keep ur business brain on, whilst u want to be busy u also want clientele who r not going to be one offs u need to build up regular clients!
  7. I just wanted to mention something on here that has got my blood boiling, Im currently a training nail tech with Nail Harmony and i only do treatments on friends and family as im not qualified i don't feel comfortable to work on members of the public as there is so much involved in the nails side of things and my insurance does not cover me for public liability yet not until i am qualified. Anywho.......... I had a friend phone me the other week wanting her nails done i normally just do gelish on her nails but said she wanted gel enhancements, i couldnt do them as i was busy so she had, had her nails done for £20 by a person on here claiming to be a nail tech, the "nail tech" had said she qualified 2 years ago on the phone to my friend when she booked in with her. My friend said the "tech" who turned up late and in a very unprofesional manner, didnt have a clue on what she was doing, at this point she turned round and then said she was actually "training" half way through doing her nails, my friend let her carry on as she knew i was training and gave her the benefit of the doubt, but basically made a mess of her nails. My friend lost 4 nails within a space of 2 days, she phoned the "nail tech" back who then admitted to not having any training yet but was looking into it and wasn't insured and apologised for lying, she refused to give my friend her money back at first saying she had given her a service, i have spoken with this tech on my friends behalf and hopefully this person has seen the errors of her way, and kindly refunded my friend her money back, i am not outing this person as they have assured me they will not do it again. Needless to say I ended up having to sort out my friends nails but they have been severely damaged on the nail plate now and is going to be some time until she can have any treatment on them. So i suggest any person who is after a professional beauty treatment with a mobile nail or beauty tech, as a client you are well within your rights to ask to see for qualification certificates and to be honest you should anyway! Some peopl might openly say look im currently trianing obviously i won't charge as much so in that case it's up to u, but tbh i'd avoid and see a qualified person. Don't let any old tom, dick or harry give you ur treatment thats why this industry has such a bad reputation because unqualified people think it's so easy to do this, unfortunately the uk regulations on the beauty industry are no where near as strict as USA, but hopefully things will change! so remember as a customer/client ask to see the professionals certificate(s), if they are qualified they will happily show you or will automatically have them displayed.
  8. For any future posters U can't expect to be a professional nail tech on a day's course!! Fair enough u can learn the basics and get a certificate, but would you really feel confident enough to do work on members of the public with just one days training? thats like becoming a pilot in a day for an airline company!?! ridiculous! Its great that people want to get into it but you have to be realistic about it! Theres so much to learn that people don't realise such as nail anatomy, health and safety, infections/diseases of the nail (theres lots of them) meaning you can't just do anyones nails you need to look out for the signs. You need to learn application methods, break down of equipment that is needed, why and what it does, how to avoid enhancement lifting, nail splitting, damage to the nail plate and bed, correct nail preparation, the actual art and system of it such as apex , filing, shaping, People think its easy and so glamorous but believe me its not the person in the salon doing your nails is a professional with lots of training and experience which is why it looks so easy, fair enough you can buy these kits from argos or where ever but your not trained in using it properly, nor are you going to get the quality of finish you would by a professional. You have to constantly train to update your skills as trends change so much as the poster above mentioned you can tell the difference between good nails and bad and the only way to get good nails is to get decent training and keep practicing and training, ur only as good as the training you have. As expensive as the courses are in the long run u will benefit from all of this whats the point on wasting 300-400 quid for a course cos its cheap for you to not feel confident enough after a day training for you to then have to end up paying an additional 800-1000 quid on going through what u did on the first course because you didnt train or learn enough. Some of the one days courses are good such as minx and kooky wraps, shellac and gelish training, u cant really learn a full nail system or more in one/two days. People can pick it up quite well on the courses but like i say u need more then a day, being a nail technician is an on going learning curve. U have to bear in mind that if you do a rubbish job on a client thats it,that client will not come back to you. I reccomend you look at training with the best companies in the business and thats the nail product providers, they have educators who do courses and include the best methods and ways to use their products aswell learning the actual systems Just to name a few who are the best, Nail Harmony, CND (sweet squared in the UK), NSI, Young Nails, Ezflow, IBD. If your serious about doing nails as a profession you need to think seriously about how much you want it, having cheap training will in the end lead to being more expensive!

  13. i'm sorry to hear that, unfortunately companies are too quick to offer discounts and not keep up standards.................but you as a consumer get what you pay for!! If you were being paid less the 50% of ur normal rate for your work would put 100% effort into it? would you actually make a full effort?!? think about it logically and honestly and theres your answer. Unfortunately in this climate people make too quick to make a judgement call and offer discounts just to get people in the door because business is quiet and they shouldnt as it deminishes you and your work i wouldnt put 100% in something i was being paid less then 50% of my normal rate on! i hate companies like KGB!!! i've said it once and i'll say it again U GET WHAT U PAY FOR when offers, discounts and cheap work come into play the only time it should be cheap is when someone is training or there offering a loyaltly discount to their existing clients and not to get new people in the door who come in once and are unhappy with their product/treatment don't come back and tell their friends and random people how bad the company is!!
  14. eaten here this evening food was delicious especially for the price!! waiting was slightly longer then desired but from my understanding they were a member of staff down other then that the place is a million times better then how the old siding use to be and i cant fault them at all from avoiding the old sidings customers who use to cause nothing but trouble the majority of the time!! my opinion a lovely real ales establishment keep up the good work. end of the day u cant please everyone but as long as ur pleasing the right type of clientele ur after then thats all that matters!! well done!!
  15. mite see if i can get the mr to take me for a drink and some food tonite, still not been down yet and i drive past everyday!!
