  1. I think you'll find that people with mortgages have the luxury of being on the wayto owning their own home...an unattainable ideal for many now. Oh...it's a landord's responsibilty to do repairs on THEIR properties.
  2. Ac If prison is an ' enjoyable' time, that says an awful lot about our society...thay some people would rather be incarcerated than out with the general public. What should prison be like?.
  3. Fashions just change. Plenty of people spend a long time getting ready to go .My mum says when she was young, women always wore hats as part of the outfit...how often do you see that now?
  4. Our council can't spend money they don't have. It's those blue tories that have cut the budget. They've also spent money replacing streetlightd throughout Sheffield. What's wrong with spending money on regenerating run doem areas where people are actually living?
  5. It wasn't like that 10 years ago. Blame government cuts to local council budgets. Loads of cemetaries have become massively overgrown, including Rivelin. The general cemetary is in good condition because it has a reasonably large group of volunteers maintaining it. City road is still in use so obviously gets priority. Oh....there are far worse places in Sheffield.
  6. I've bought miso, tamari and sushi rice from tai sun on matilda st. Thaey have quite a wide range there, including fresh vegeatables, lots of frozen meat and fish and different types of tofu :-)
  7. The Brushes ( old red caps and later, part of Firth Park school. Also Norwood Hall.
  8. I can see both sides of the argument re the drain on public money and the losses experienced by town centre businesses and also the anger of the protest groups. To ban protest marches would set a dangerous precedent and would goalong nicely with the cuts to legal aid in yet another move to control the masses. Take a good long look at this government and that of nazi germany....many similarities.
  9. It depends. There are different levels.according to the individual, size of tattoo etc. It can also take quite a lot of sessions to fully remove one. A friend of mine had it done and it didn't really work. I knoe you can buy make up that will cover tattoos
  10. Did that comment make you feel big, clever and superior? Glad if it did. Personally I don't need that kind of gratification. ---------- Post added 14-12-2013 at 12:15 ---------- Bluedragonfly, i'm really sorry thar this has degenerated to yet another rude, petty argument and i'm leaving the thread and the Forum for that reason. I hope you manage to get things sorted out. Best of luck
  11. We had a choice of Tapton and King Edward iiv for our son. He doesn't go to Tapton and, seeing the behaviour of the students coming out of Tapton, i'm glad he doesn't. Your final comment was rude and unnecessary. Are you an ex Tapton attender?
  12. An unqualified person placing a diagnosis of 'autistic' on an individual is unproffessional. Placing guilt on that individuals shoulders is unforgivable. Is it an acadamy that you attend by any chance?
  13. Mod Note Content removed. Please repost this in the correct section, "Jobs" as adverts are not permitted in this section.
  14. I was never a member but I was taken there once. A unique experience. Happy to discuss if one visit is any good.
  15. I went in there the other day; there were 2 other people apart from me. The receptionists x 2 were haveing a very loud, brain dead converstaion and seemed a bit miffed at being bothered by a nuisance patient. After about half an hour i was seen by a patronizing, unhelpful nurse who was quite happy to dismiss my problem and call it nothing. Despite this, I was referrred to see a gp. There was one GP on duty and 1 other person besides me waiting to see the gp. So why did it take the GP a full hour to get round to seeing me? Complete waste of time in the end because I was just told to go and see my own GP because I needed blood tests and thaey don't do them there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The only reason I went there in the first place is because it was my own Gps half day, so they were shut and I was going away for a few days the following day. I shouldn't have bothered. maybe one day I will learn
  16. I'm not 'jealous' of pensioners getting free travel, I believe that it's wrong that our future, ie our children, are treated less favourably than pensioners. Further to this, you are mis-informed on many issues :- There are plenty of pensioners around who have never worked or have done the bare minimum. They may be amongst the lowest paid but when changes to benefits came in in 90s, a single pensioner living off the state pension and associated benefits was on roughly the same income as a lone parent with one child claiming benefits. They are also allowed to have a lot more capital than somebody of working age before it is taken into account for benefit calculation. I was working on a benefit paying section at the time of these implementations and came accross many people who thought that they should be entitled to further benefits even though they had 1000s in savings. It is our children who will grow up and work to pay for the pensions of our ever increasing elderly population. The idea of saving for your retirement is to support yourself when you are no longer working; not to stash it away in a bank to pass onto your kids. This is the last comment I am prepared to make on this subject as the thread is about subsidised travel for children. I brought the issue of pensioners up to demonstrate how unfair the system is. The extra money gained from charging pensioners something to get on a bus could go towards lowering the ever increasing child fare
  17. My nephew's had it, it tends to last for a few weeks at a time and then clears up.
  18. Because in many areas (especially around where I live) the dereased collections have led to lots of bin bags being left on top of bins or bursting out of the top. The local foxes have a go at the bags, pulling the contents all over the ground; they rarely clean up after themselves so the rats go in afterwards.
  19. If school children are going to get subsidised travel it should be right accross the board and not just given to a few. It is a parents choice to send their child to faith school as opposed to their local comp and in many cases this choice is not always based on faith. There are many children who go to schools outside their catchment area for many different reasons and, in most cases, they have to pay. Similarly, many children still have to use public transport to get to their nearest school; they still have to pay too. I believe that all children should have access to safe, affordable travel to school and find it ludicrous that all pensioners get free bus travel regardless of their financial situation. I have paid to travel on my local bus route and, on many occasions have literally been the the only fare paying person on that bus. They seem to have got the balance completely wrong on this one. Even if they were to charge penioners the 60p fare that children have to pay per journey, this would bring in huge amounts of money.
  20. I've only just got your messages love. not creepy at all, just very kind. I've managed to tack one down on line but thank you very much for your offer x
  21. Hi. I need a 2.5, small circular needle to finish of the neck of a jumer i'm knitting. I just bought a 2.5 circular needle from the market but it's too long and i'm having difficulty tracking a smaller one down. i've looked online, ebay etc but that size if needle seems to be both quite rare and expensive. i'm new to knitting and can't work out how to use sock needles instead. Thanks in advance for any answers
  22. Do you think that the impoved rail link between Sheffield and London will have any noticable benefit to Sheffield in general? Or will it just benefit a minority? Having seen Sheffirld change so much over the past 20 years (for various reasons), i have my own ideas about the impact of improved commuter links to London. what do you all think?
  23. Its up towards broomhill, just across northumberland rd. the site is across from weston oark hospital and is huge. i do wonder if the two were connected in some way though.
  24. Are you getting mixed up with the dam in Crookes Valley Park? Your description sounds identical. Or did they move the boat down to crookes valley when the other one was filled in?
