  1. This - is there a different tick box or cover option that you've selected this year that you didn't select last year? e.g. 3rd party vs. fully comp. Using car for work etc.
  2. I think they already know. I could be wrong about this, but I think it links to what another poster said about acceptable levels. While some components are still made up of lead e.g. parts of the solder, they are generally not in direct contact or contain such low levels that it is deemed acceptable.
  3. I bet they have mustaches and skinny jeans...
  4. This is it really. Certain countries may have restrictions placed on them e.g. Iran. Other goods will be banned from importing, and others may have a limit on how many can be imported in one go. Go on, entertain us and give us some more info!!
  5. Why were they based in Sheffield? Was it to take advantage of the industry that was there? I didn't know about it, so please do feel free to give us some info, or a few stories!
  6. I don't think the fine is for emitting pollution/fumes, you could argue that there already is a tax on this, but that's a whole separate issue. The issue we are discussing is about vehicle idling. While a car sat in traffic with it's engine on is presumably idling, there is a clear difference between one that is parked/waiting and one that is in gridlock/traffic. I suppose you could rationalize it by saying that the car in traffic is not needlessly and voluntarily choosing to sit stationary while the car waiting is. One other user has already spoken about the 3 minute marker, which is evidence-based and would also reduce your point further as there is rarely gridlock where cars are totally stationary for more than 3 minutes. This also helps to make a difference between cars in traffic and cars waiting. (on a whole other issue I'd be interested to know if a self-driving car can receive a ticket for engine idling if it is waiting for its driver to arrive, although this technology is currently mostly used in electric vehicles). I'm not looking for an argument, but there is a clear difference in my opinion, so if you want to continue down that road (pun?) then I'm not sure what else to suggest.
  7. If anyone is interested, Hong Kong has had an ordinance against idling engines since 2011. It basically says that you can't have your vehicle stationary and engine on for more than 3 minutes. Rules in detail are here: http://www.epd.gov.hk/epd/english/environmentinhk/air/prob_solutions/idling_prohibition.html This has had a few issues with enforcement, however (as others have mentioned) it is more that the fine acts as a deterrent and the government has spent a bit of time and money putting adverts up educating drivers about the environmental impact of idling engines. Another poster commented about who has the time to sit there with their engine idling. This was (I think) a bit of a problem facing HK, there are a lot of minibuses, buses, taxis and private chauffeur-driven cars that were idling, so it was something that the government saw the need to legislate against. I'm not so certain the same scale/issues are present in Sheffield, but maybe they don't need to be! Have the council done much in the way of education? On a side note, there are also some schools here that make it compulsory for students to pay for a school bus, so this acts as a financial deterrent against parents dropping their children off. However, this is not widespread at all and focuses on mainly international schools.
  8. But would it make "them" think twice? I think that if someone was fanatical about something then a heavy handed approach won't work. I think that if someone isn't fanatical, then a heavy handed approach would only marginalise them further, increasing the risk. I know that we always seem to hear stories about "people who were on the police lists, but then deemed not to be a threat" who then go on to be a threat... but: a) what about all those that were investigated, yet really are not a threat - would you send them all to alcatraz or shoot them? b) perhaps it was only after the investigation that they became a threat i.e. it had the opposite effect.
  9. I think these are a few good points here. Also totally agree with the need to examine the rules re: revolving doors etc. Having a bar set like Anna B suggested does also seem like a good idea, perhaps that could be a rule for all currently democratically elected MPs
  10. I'm a fan of the old toilet trip. I've also started walking around. This isn't as crazy as it seems. What you need to do is start to plant the idea that you have different things to get etc., and then pretty quickly you can be patrolling or walking around and people actually start thinking you are doing something, when in fact you are just walking around!!
  11. Aren't indicators a requirement though? I do think there is a purpose and a reason to test people's knowledge of functions e.g. how to turn on the rear windscreen, check oil level, operate rear windscreen wiper etc. However, I agree with the other poster that knowing how to use a SatNav is not a necessary requirement for operating a motor vehicle.
  12. Legalise Ethanol And Kerosene Substances! Green.
  13. I don't think that people should be thinking about others facing consequences in this kind of scenario.... those people who released him are probably incredibly upset and second guessing themselves at the moment. Agreed with the point above about the difficulty assessing mental health cases.
  14. I know what you mean, but this route is probably better in the long run for the environment that leaving it as is. Although it may not look pretty initially. I don't know the area, but aren't people who have existing allotments nearby worried about the asbestos in the soil? Has anyone done a soil test on their allotment recently? I think it's great that the community appears to be interested, I wish that I could do more community-based ideas!
  15. McClaren presumably races their parts to locations in cars! But very exciting news.. there have been a few threads on here about the impact of the university on the city, and I'm glad to see this positive one!
  16. Maybe, but according to the article he doesn't find it racist and offensive for the reason stated by the OP.
  17. But he doesn't find it "racist and offensive because someone in an American TV show used the same words in a different context ." The article you linked to says: "He said: "The slogan is “Eeeny meenie miny moe…..” It stops there, but of course we all know what the original said: “catch a n***** by his toe." "The graphic has a large American baseball bat, wrapped round with barbed wire, and covered with blood. This image relates directly to the practice of assaulting black people in America."
  18. Maybe they closed for Chinese New Year, and went away on holiday! If it's been more than 3 or 4 weeks though, then perhaps not.
  19. Sorry!! That was in my copy/paste history from a previous discussion. I meant this:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111257/ If I remember correctly, I did have to pay to attend that. But heard since that they've made updated issues and they are available online.
  20. What the who is an e liquid?! Haha but really, I can work out what it is. How do you make your own? Do you find this gives you more 'control' over what you are actually inhaling? I don't really have any urge to vape, but one point I am concerned about is the unlicensed/unknown manufacture and the dodgy chemicals which may be associated about this. So, your method might be a very valid and interesting way of alleviating that concern!
  21. Speed class is a waste of time, you can get everything you need to know from the internet now anyway. To get you started: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Speed
  22. I understand what you mean. But this person has contributed so much, and had a huge impact on SF that I think people are concerned..... Hope that he/she is ok!
  23. Using a desktop browser to large TV display: Agreed with comments regarding brightness of green (makes it difficult to read) and how your description of services is too low down on the opening page. Also, my own personal comments: - I like the bullet pointed list of services on the right hand side. Could you change it to from "Cat5e Cat6" to "Cat5e/Cat6"? It's pedantic, sorry. Also, not sure if the bit below that is another bullet point, or connected to that bullet point. - For the description on the left hand side, it is difficult to read because of the colour, but also because of the number of capitalised words. Could you remove some? e.g. Personal Home Telephone Line Repair Services. I know it is an important statement but you could make it without capitalizing every word (not sure if capitalizing is the right word, but hopefully You Get What I Mean) - Maybe in time, you could have a slideshow instead of that one fixed image of the OpenReach boxes? I don't know if this is easy to do or anything, but might be a good opportunity to show visitors who "you"/ WalkerTelecoms really is i.e. some pics of work being done, you with happy customer/in a variety of jobs/ company van etc. - Also, "LOCAL TELEPHONE LINE ENGINEER" at the start of your description of services isn't consistently bolded. Looking at it again, perhaps you could make this a separate title that would appear just below your email address. This would appear on the opening page and could perhaps be designed to encourage people to scroll down to see the bullet pointed list and paragraph. - "No matter what your needs WalkerTelecoms provides the complete solution." - I think there should be a comma after "needs". Also, should it say "No matter what your needs, WalkerTelecoms provide complete solutions" or "No matter what your need, WalkerTelecoms provide the complete solution" or "No matter what your needs, WalkerTelecoms provides the complete solution". Hope that is constructive for you!
