  1. This article has been put on the BBC website. I hope the link works! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-24745705
  2. United's season tickets though are, I understand, the most expensive in League One. Maybe after the investment and therefore with income not so much of an issue this can be looked at again and reduce those if possible. But still overall another positive coming out of the Lane.
  3. I can't help but think this is a dangerous game. Brilliant result on Saturday, on a good run many fans will see this as another win on paper. I would take a scrappy 1-0 now. It will probably be the kind of game where players and fans need to be patient but can easily become frustrated especially if there is no early goal.
  4. Firth Browns was I believe taken over by Forgemasters. Their site on Brightside Lane still has the war memorials up, I drive past it every night. I know your uncle may not have been based there as it would have been English Steel Corporation then but could names have been added to it? may be worth a look.
  5. That is far too logical a suggestion for Sheffield Council to even consider. I may also throw Rotherham Titans into the mix as they are looking at moving out of Clifton Lane and at one stage seemed lined up to use Millmoor. For some reason there seems hostility to them moving into the New York stadium.
  6. Alan Woodward was brilliant and always thought Peter Duffield was a superb little finisher from the spot. I do like Blackman although if the keeper does save one it will look a rubbish pen!
  7. Another good move by United frees up some wages and should give Ironside more game time. Still think we need cover in central midfield although I have not seen Whitehouse yet.
  8. Box ticked - Higginbotham from Stoke. Good signing.
  9. I think you will find they spent it on wages for poor players and reducing the debt owed to the Directors. It was all in their accounts. They do now seem to have cleared the decks of the high earners.
  10. I assume the co-op will have had a floating charge over all assets not a specific charge over the ground. Therefore they would not have been able to repossess and redevelop only appoint an Administrator who works for all creditors not just them. The recent remortgage is a charge over the ground only so it is a different scenario. Last time the club was a risk this time only the ground.
  11. I agree if it was unsecured, but the loan Wednesday have taken is secured on the ground so from the banks point of view safe money. If the owls don't pay they would repossess. So yes there will be a lender in that scenario. ---------- Post added 31-12-2012 at 19:48 ---------- So why have they remortgaged Hillsborough and what is he doing with the funds?
  12. We really need a stopper centre half in the Morgan style at least on loan until Collins is fit again. There are too many teams with a big target man in this league and Hill and/or Harry can not handle that type of player (as proven by Howard). Any rumours on this kind of player?
  13. Poor figures when you allow for the much higher gates that accompany a promotion season. Presumably this loss has been underpinned either by Manderic personally or by the recent re-mortgage of Hillsborough. If stood by Manderic then at least the release of the equity from Hillsborough should let Jones make the major purchases needed to secure Championship status. What does Manderic directors loan now stand at? This will indicate how many millions Jones will have to play with.
  14. As mentioned in the SWFC/Hillsborough thread, it would appear that Manderic has released equity from the stadium through a legal charge (effectivly a remortgage). So it may be that he is looking to inject that cash in to team strengthening or other development. Manderic is shrewd and will certainly ensure that his investment is protected.
  15. So it would appear that the loan may have been taken to help fund the new development at the Presto tools site. This would make sense although why has Mandric offered Hillsborough as security instead of the land that is being developed? Alternatively it may be the loan has been taken for ground development or January's tranfer window. As the loan has been taken so recently it wont show in the accounts until next year so all will become clear then.
