Where can I find a Salsa dance class?
peakma replied to jezabel's topic in Sheffield Sport & Activities
Hi not in killamarsh, but a couple of my friends have been going to one at the forum in town on a tuesday evening. Its not really my sort of thing, but they keep trying to get me to go along, and insist its a really friendly group and great fun.I think its about Β£3 a session. -
Like your avatar, thought there was a fly on the screen!

My kitten has also had its first snow experience today loves it! I hope this next comment wont offend ,but I felt compelled to comment,as I have two sons who are rather too similar to beavis and butthead, and their mind set is somewhat contagious!! they will be most amused in the morning, when I tell them that someone on Sheffield forum has named their cat gay-ass!! I have to ask is that done on purpose?or does your spelling mean something completely different!!

I cant believe you ask this! Do you have two or more children? When you are just taking care of one it it's just about managable, but any more its quite dangerous getting kids from shop to car, cars reversing cant see small children when they are reversing. And some people seem to give no notice,or even check it is safe before manouvering. It riles me when people abuse these spaces, only recently saw a family of fat adults swiping one,and it does bug me.My kids are 10,8 and 5.If I'm just with the two older ones,I tend to leave the parent child space for someone with a pushchair. If I have all 3 with me we still use them,as my daughter is too small to be seen behind a reversing car. Why are adults with no kids so damn lazy? It's not as if the furtherest away spaces are actually far away, were talking less than a minutes walk.Crazy.

Thanks for reminding me of this one,I have heard it before.and it really reminds me of my late Grandma! The worrying thing is I'm only 31 and already have so many of those traits! The only poem that springs to my mind about being old is; First published in 1865, in Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, with revised editions in 1886 and 1897. βYou are old, Father William,β the young man said, βAnd your hair has become very white; And yet you incessantly stand on your head β Do you think, at your age, it is right?β βIn my youth,β Father William replied to his son, βI feared it might injure the brain; But, now that I'm perfectly sure I have none, Why, I do it again and again.β βYou are old,β said the youth, βas I mentioned before, And have grown most uncommonly fat; Yet you turned a back-somersault in at the door β Pray, what is the reason of that?β βIn my youth,β said the sage, as he shook his grey locks, βI kept all my limbs very supple By the use of this ointment β one shilling the box β Allow me to sell you a couple?β βYou are old,β said the youth, βand your jaws are too weak For anything tougher than suet; Yet you finished the goose, with the bones and the beak β Pray how did you manage to do it?β βIn my youth,β said his father, βI took to the law, And argued each case with my wife; And the muscular strength, which it gave to my jaw, Has lasted the rest of my life.β βYou are old,β said the youth, βone would hardly suppose That your eye was as steady as ever; Yet you balanced an eel on the end of your nose β What made you so awfully clever?β βI have answered three questions, and that is enough,β Said his father; βdon't give yourself airs! Do you think I can listen all day to such stuff? Be off, or I'll kick you down stairs!β Lewis Carroll

Getting to Tideswell without a Car.
peakma replied to Tricky's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I live in Bradwell (about a 10 min drive to Tideswell,if that). I don't use the buses much now,as I've been driving 2 years.Though when I did rely on buses,I recall Tideswell wasn't a very regular service.Maybe you could get the 272 Castleton bus from Sheffield as far as Bradwell( some of the 272's don't go via Bradwell,in which case you'd want to get off at the Travellers rest pub),or the train to Hope then a taxi the rest of the way? These are local Taxi ads taken from the Bradwell news,Peter Armatige 01298 872107 or Mick Rowland 01433 621924. I wouldn't recommend walking from Bradwell as it is a very busy road ,with no foot path and its a long long way up a very steep hill and would take quite a long time! I hope this helps. -
Is this gig for over 18's only? My son is 10 the day after and Led Zeppelin is his favourite band,be cool to take him.

Getting a ferrel kitten on Monday, what do I need to do?
peakma replied to peakma's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
Thanks for reply, was it your post I was reading earlier about rehoming boys? If so made me chuckle! Also anyone give me an idea of what it should cost approx to do everything? And if it appears fine is it necessary to get it vet checked immediately,or just buy the relevant medications, and see a vet when it is at an age suitable for vaccinations(what age is that?).I don't want to cut corners, but at the same time I don't want to spend just for the sake of it. -
Hi all, we have been thinking about getting a kitten for some time.We already have a 8 year old Tom who is the calmest most loving friendly cat in the world! So I have been a little worried about rocking his world by introducing a little bundle of manic kitten to his life! But I think he'l be cool.He has been neutered,I was thinking if we got another cat the original cat would get on better with a female kitten but I dont know why? Is he more likely to get on with a Tom,or a she?He happily hangs around in the garden with neighbours cats. I was at my friends last night and she has just got a lovely little kitten of about 8 weeks old.She has got it from a farm she works at where they have semi-ferrel cats, and apparantly this one has a sister( but could be a brother?) that could also do with being homed,so I think we are going to get it on Monday.Hers is very friendly. So what do I need to know,I cant remember when other cat was a kitten.I know she has taken hers to the vet and had him wormed.etc and bought it powdered kitten milk and kitten pouches. So any info would be helpful.I guess I need to buy a litter tray, and litter(any sort cheapest or best?) I guess I need to get it checked over by a vet asap, wormed, fleaed, vacinated etc and in the future neutered or spayed. Also original Tom hasn't had any jabs since he was a kitten,do I need to protect him against anything the kitten could be carrying? I realise when you take on an animal you cant expect it to cost nothing, but at the same time I want to do everything as cheap as possible( dont worry will always be well looked after, and have everything it needs). So any hints on cost cutting welcomed,as we are about to hit a rather tight few months! And good names( not the typical cat names, unique and original! Our Tom is called Claude-as in clawed) Thanks

worth asking on freecycle if your not too particular about colour

What a bummer,I have had 3 decent bikes stolen from me(10 plus years ago)when I lived in Sheffield.Absolutely gutting,so 4 in one go,I feel for you. I don't suppose it will make much difference, but on bike radar forum theres a section to report stolen bikes, you never know it might be worth reporting on there,so others in the cycling community can keep an eye out for you. http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/index.php?c=5

Thank you for suggestions,I should be in bed by now! As I'l be up at about 5am.We are only going to Jersey,Channel Islands. We get the car collected from us at the terminal,at 9am,then straight in to check in,so I think arriving there for 9am should be o.k.Planning to leave at 7am. I cant wait to arrive, and stop stressing about missing the plane!

Hi all we have to get to Manchester Airport tomorrow for 9am,to drop off the car, then fly at 10.45.We are in Hope Valley and it usually takes about an hour. But I have no idea how much extra time to allow for the morning traffic,as we have all ways gone off peak times in the past. Can anyone advise? I don't want to be ridiculously early, nor be in a mad panic about being late! Thanks, got to remember to pack and do so much,an feeling v. stressed(should just be looking forward to holidays)I'd like to stop worrying about this!!

Taxi from sheffield to manchester airport
peakma replied to jenz245's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If you've got your own car, this is a good alternative. We recently used this meet and greet service, where you drive straight to the terminal, and give them your car to take away and park. When you return, you ring them when you collect your last bag,and they are there waiting outside with your car.It was great,so easy, especialy with kids and loads of bags, and only cost Β£43 for 10 days. In all honesty I don't know exactly where my car was kept whilst we were away. And if it was worth more money, that might have worried me more, but seen as our car is rather scrappy, this wasn't really a worry at all! I would highly recommend them, and will be booking again for August. Anyone else used them? http://www.elitevaletparking.co.uk/index.htm -
H,I just wanted to say ,I really enjoyed flicking through your pictures.
