  2. Where are the best skate parks in Sheffield parks? Trying to find some free fun, one son gas a scooter other BMX. We are aware of the one at millhouses park, meersbrook ( apparently, but not been), the one near the forum.. Any other recommendations, of good ones to try? My scooter son, loves " the House" but you pay to go there, and know good for bikes.. Want to find more, especially where younger learners such as themselves don't feel too intimidated by expert older teenagers!..
  3. got loads of stuff to get rid of, any carboots or table top sales coming up soon?
  4. Hi all, it's my partners birthday! We never eat out, so would like some recommendations please, vdgetaian prefered but anywhere with a good vege menu. Thinking London road, Ecclesall, town or any where really... Not too expensive, but nice to have a bit of atmosphere.. Thanks.
  5. I have considered many times to set up a gardening business. I have no doubt it is hard graft. But at least in has an element of freedom to it. Surely though, you would prefer to work less hours, pay less taxes and still be in the same financial position?! The main thing that stops me is lack of funds to get started. I love getting stuck into gardening, creating beautiful spaces. Theres no way I could work somewhere like mcdonalds, long hours, for just enough to scrape by, hardly getting any chance to spend time with family or in nature. whilst mr mcdonald sits there, sipping champagne in his luxury yacht, owning a totally un ethical business, doing nothing but raking it in. Good luck to you, I'm glad you enjoy your life. Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy there lives.
  6. People need to work? Who says?! I think most people would rather be doing other things. If your signature reads true, then you are one of the lucky ones that has a fairly free job, choose the hours, be your own boss, experience the elements, and be at one with nature..
  7. In all due respect, before they were camping there, your relatives gravestone was been walked over on a daily basis by people passing by. So I don't see what the difference is with people putting up tents there? Would you object if it was a Christmas Market, with tents? And, as it happens, there is a slops bucket for dregs of tea, compost for tea bags, and I havent seen one scrap of litter, even the leaves are frequently swept! As far as I can see this is a bunch of people who have come together globally, who realise there's got to be a better, fairer way of doing things, on the whole big scheme of things. I dont see how can anyone be opposed, to global equality, in principal? Why should a greedy few the top, take so much, in such an unfair way, that they have too much, more than they could ever need.. Whilst those at the bottom have nothing, no quality of life, no food, no water?! The world is abundant, there is plenty to round, if only love and compassion was the leading force, not power and greed. I speak for myself not occupy, to me it's the whole big picture, we are one species,we live on a beautiful planet. If we want to sustain this planet for the good of our future generations, we need to come together and raise these issues. Nobody claims to have all the answers. But it's about getting people, talking, thinking, and questioning, and hopefully coming to so democratic solution. Not about old failed politics, where one party puppet, wins over another party puppet, not about socialism, communism,Marxism, capitalism, left wing, right wing.... It's about looking for a posative step forward, as a human race. An awaking of souls who care enough to take the time to raise these issues to those who are so stuck in the ritual of working/paying the bills /sleeping... And so on... That they have become numb in there acceptance of it all. Whether you agree with the protest being outside of the Cathedral or not, we should all be questioning could the human species be doing a better job of cohabiting on this planet, for the good of it's future, and our offsprings. No parent wants to see their child go off to war.. Phew, that was a bit of late night waffle, but that's kind of how I see it. And silly remarks like there tents were made in sweat shops in china, they drink coke and use the banks etc. That is the curent society we live in, it's hard to avoid. That doesn't mean that in the future it couldn't be different..
  8. If you'd love to be a fly on the wall, why not just be a person in the crowd. Go to the GA, what's stopping you observing how it happens?!
  9. I don't know, it was just food for thought, after this coment from fred1. "Absolutely correct. Britain is at present the 6th wealthiest nation on the planet. The USA is the richest of all. Lower paid people in these countries live lives like kings and queens in comparison to those in real poverty in Africa, Asia and South America." Give the occupy people a chance. Many people on here seem to expect instant answers to all the worlds problems, or they are not credible. If that's what your expecting, then your not going to be impressed. It hasn't been a week yet. It is a group of strangers, coming together, setting up camp in the city centre in Novemeber, it takes a little time to get the balls rolling. I speak from my perspective, not the occupy movement as a whole. Everyone is an individual, it is not like a political party. It's about, for me alerting people to the true tapestry of life, to look for themselves at the global picture of how it all fits together and is run. The world is a beautiful abundant planet. There is plenty to go round. It is wrong that we sit back in the desensitised tv informed knowledge, of the poverty and hardship suffered by so many in the world.. We think it's awful, we donate a few quid here and there, but we actively do nothing, and nore do our elected mps. There has to be a fairer global system. Imagine a world run on love and compassion, over money... I don't know,Possibly not relevant, I could waffle on, but really haven't time..
  10. so what would happen if all debt was cancelled? check these figures out, mind boggling.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_external_debt
  11. I decided at a very young age, I am my own authority, and I shall live my life by my own morals, and make my own decisions in life. Thankfully most of the time the sit in line with the law of the land. I do not believe in religion or politics, in my believe in freedom and acceptance of others. The only true rule of the human species on a whole should be " be kind". Unfortunately not everyone is able to think for themselves, and do the right thing off their own back, so we all have to live in a nanny state full of rules.
  12. There are some truly sick individuals frequent this forum. How can anyone find it ok to treat another human being this way?! I won't waste my time on getting involved in such a debate, thank goodness for people like Peasmaker and Halibut, who have the patience to correspond with, and possibly educate these people in basic humanity. I'm wondering how many of these sick individuals, are actually victims themselves? Ex soldiers, with a permanently warped view point from witnessing the horror of war. If this is the case, please seek help. I hope one day, the human race can evolve to the point where we realise we are all one species, love , appreciation and acceptance of diversity over hate, war and greed. Wake up and enlighten yourselves, you would be happier in yourselves if you stopped harbouring all this hate
  13. To be honest, I was so shocked by such a repulsive view point, I checked out some of his other posts, which lead me to the thread "soldier cuts of dead afghans finger as war trophy" What a revolting individual, his contributition being sugestining a "like button" on the Sheffield forum, when someone else queried if the fingers were on eBay yet??! Angelfire1 could see no problem in removing the fingers of a murdered young afghan either, as seen as they were dead already they'd feel no pain??!! Omg, there are some truly sick individuals frequent this forum. It tends to put me, and no doubt many other rational people off this forum altogether. Are they just trolls, or do they actualy believe what they say?! I feel I have to contribute, so people not from Sheffield, looking at this forum, don't get the impression that these people are what sheffielders are like! Halibut, I'm always glad to see your reasonable responses within thread!
  14. So. Let me get this right, by your way of logic, and your in favour of cannabis being illegal. It would be morally correct, to legally murder someone in public, for the offence of growing some plants and sharing them with friends??!!.. ... Hhhhhmmmm??....
  15. What I would like to see change in this world is love ruling over money. An end to cooperate greed, and dodgy deals. I don't post my opinions on here often as there are just too many people with an "I'm allright Jack" sort of attitude. There only response being, if you don't like it, why font you run for government, if you want to see change! Well what if you believe the political system is one silly big game, have you seen how they behave in the house of commons, like a bunch of gafforing baboons! I would like to see more truth, a fairer world for those who have it much worse than we do. Do you ever wonder about who grew the cotton your wearing, or planted the coffee beans your drinking? Just because people want change for planet earth and every single life form living on it, so the world can thrive for future generations, does that make them idealistic hippies?! When the banks gamble with your money loose, then get bailed out by you, only to award themselves with bonus's, is that fair? Do you truly believe, that Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya were invaded for the good of the people who live there? So many things need to be adressed and questioned, I do not claim to have an expert knowledge on any of them, but I would like to hear the voices of those that do. Occupy is making an impact, people are seeing it, and beginning to question what's going on on a global scale. Are you people who think standing together to have a voice are " just a bunch of lefty morons, with nothing better to do" truly happy with the state of our world? If not, what do you do about it to change things? How do you feel when you see dying babies starving in the bare boned mothers eyes? How do you feel when you hear orang-utans are nearly extinct due to there forests being cut down so rich companies can use the land to make more money, whilst the people who live there starve? So many questions to be addressed, and I don't claim to have the answers. But the truth is this world needs global change, never before have the people been so connected by technology. We are living in a system that has been built up from a slave trade. You people negative to standing up for change, start questioning everything, stop listening to mainstream news like it's fact, wake up and fo a bit of your own research. Get past the point that protesters also drink coffee and use technology, they are not wanting to go back to the dark ages!
  16. Freecycle or freegle, someone will be glad to collect it and make use of it.
  17. Noticed this happening tomorrow. http://occupysheffield.org.uk/
  18. Occupy Sheffield tomorrow. http://occupysheffield.org.uk/
  19. Do you mean Guy Fawkes, or V for vendetta? My son got a V mask a while ago from a little sci Fi shop just of the moor, near the oxfam, and Chinese shop, think it's the turn off near Burtons.
  20. They want people to numb their minds with alcohol, talk crap and fight amongst themselves. Cannabis is a worry to authority, as it enables people to open their minds to debate and discussion and to consider all aspects of life deeply, and challenge things. It is a peaceful, creative drug. They want to control us. I have been smoking for 20 years, and the health issues do worry me, smoking of any kind is bad for the lungs. I wish I'd never aloud myself to get addicted to tobacco. My eldest is only a year younger than I was when I started, and I would hate to see him poluting his body in any way. I can honestly say if he does choose to smoke anything, I would far rather he have a few bongs at the weekend, than smoke tobacco daily.
  21. 20 years smoking cannabis. Just get on and legalise it, I am sick of being made into a criminal. It's just ridiculous. I'd really like to have the access to all the varieties that were available when I first started. Fluffy Moroccan, afghan black, red seal, gold seal, slate, Thai,oil... Oh they were the days! Now it just seem to be the hybrid skunks, or really crap hash. It annoys me I have to feel like a criminal, and it does impact on how I react with society, for example if I were to work with children, I would be forever fearful of being exposed as a "druggie." I almost joined a Facebook legalise it page the other day, but thought better of it as I am friends with my children's friends, and there parents. I should stand up and speak out for what I believe, but unfairly I could be branded a criminal and that would have consequences. I am not a homeowner, though the amount I have spent on smoke over the years is too alarming to ever calculate, and I could of grown it all myself. How would that effect the economy, if all those like me had had the cash to buy houses and spend on other things?! Never mind the tax they could make on selling it, and the money saved on police and court time and jail space?! The majority of people who want cannabis to stay illegal are ignorant.
  22. Skimmed through this, some people really need to wake up, and stop believing the spoon fed media, do a little research of what's going on in the world. I haven't got the time or energy to begin joining any debates on the Sheffield forum, I have tried before, but it's too full of morons with closed minds, who look no further into what's going on in the world than what the BBC choses to tell them... Whenever qn interesting or controversial subject is begun, it is inevitably removed or turns into some silly tit for tat argument about spelling!! Any way I only came on to look if there was any occupy Sheffield protests planned yet, I thought I saw a thread last night on the main page, but it seems to of gone.. This world needs change, and people are speaking out. Human greed has taken over, we need to remember what we are here for, in my opinion, as intelligent human beings, the most important thing we can do is protect and respect all life on earth... If anyone hears of positive action going on in Sheffield, I would appreciate a pm, as no doubt it will be removed!
  23. Ahhh quick somebody shoot me down quick, I put of instead of off!! Oh lord I'm getting drawn in now!
  24. Must admit, I loathe to post on this forum, as just about every single thread, whatever it starts of about just turns in to mindless tit for tat moaning and arguing!! Never ceases to amaze me how it happens, sometimes it's the pc brigade ends up moaning sometimes it's the non pc brigade, car drivers/cyclists, men /women, veggies/mc donalds fans,young/old, rich /poor, dog lovers cat /lovers, gay/ straight, good spellers/ poor spellers,chavs/ hippies,Smokers/ non smokers, black/ White/ yellow or pink!! for <REMOVED> sake can we not just all celebrate diversity, respect all around us, and laugh at/ with ourselves and each other??!! It would be very boring if we were all the same! The only true rule to life, is "be kind". Rant over!! Looking forward to good times at festies with like minded people, even then though there's always at least one <REMOVED> head intent on ruining it!!! Ah sigh!!
