  1. My view is that in general terms the advance of medicine has greatly enhanced the quality of life and life expectancy for the majority of civilised populations. Once again it seems illogical to me to be ruled by exceptions to the rule.
  2. It becomes odd when people become obsessive in their search for the truth.Such is the power of the internet that almost anyone can carry out their own “research” which may be general interest at first, but then channels into only looking for affirmation of something that has resonated with them. I have put my trust in the medical profession for almost a lifetime and have no reason to doubt them.We threw away the home medical books when our children were toddlers because it became apparent that we could very easily diagnose symptoms very easily, which lead to unnecessary concerns.
  3. Not totally safe, but safer perhaps. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-59645307 Some more MSM for discussion
  4. Strange times. Nearly 100 rebellious Tories, and Johnson has the total support of Labour. And then we have Thursdays by election. All very interesting.
  5. Only time will tell so let’s all hope that Omicron will prove to be as harmless as it appears to be 3 weeks in.
  6. Now you mention it what is your own prediction for the next 6 months or so.Presumably it would include the above.
  7. It is offered to you and you have a choice. You have never shown any sign of being coerced to my recollection
  8. So that’s your only comment on my post. Its a voluntary vaccine programme that I have full trust in until proved otherwise. So you have no reason to be scared because you won’t have the vaccine. That excludes the sort of trash propagated by The Bricky.
  9. I have no idea.3 weeks ago I had never heard of Omicron. 2 years ago we were just about to learn of the epidemic that then became a pandemic. No deaths were recorded until 5 weeks after the first U.K. cases were recorded. However my best hope is that any future variant is increasingly less threatening. I differentiate between the scientific/medical abilities against how our politicians use the information. I hope that natural immunity becomes a big factor but in the meantime I am happy to take any modified vaccine or tablets that may be necessary .Happily my nearest and dearest have the same opinion. I go no further than believing the vaccine is for personal protection so it is down to personal choice.
  10. Only just catching up on what seems to have been a busy morning on here, but seemingly not in the office. Overall what shines through is the measured and informed posts of some and the hysterical (in both senses) claims of others. The one statistic that really matters is vaccinations up ,hospitalisation down.
  11. Well you are wrong there.
  12. Sorry for butting in @sibon Hecate’s post beats elephants in the room hands down
  13. Are you referring to the vaccine programme or the measures drawn up for plans a,b,c,d etc of this administration.
  14. Believe that if you wish but it’s not true in the majority of cases. Those who opt for the vaccine do so to minimise the risk of severe illness or worse.
  15. I said pubbing and clubbing
  16. Is that really your analysis of the situation. Many thousands are turning up for their jabs for their future safeguard and not because ONE person has died. Perhaps part of his reason is because it’s good insurance or perhaps he wants to go pubbing and clubbing this Christmas.
  17. It’s a published article so agree or disagree as you choose.
  18. https://inews.co.uk/news/health/doctors-incredibly-frustrated-unvaccinated-covid-patients-delaying-nhs-operations-1336507 No I won’t be deleting it. I agree with Tops that great effort is being put into encouraging people to get their vaccines. However as an admirer and supporter of vaccines I have no problem with that. Why have a vaccine at all if it does not prevent serious complications in the majority of cases.
  19. https://www.health-ni.gov.uk/news/vaccination-status-deaths-and-hospitalisations-report It was on a report in the news on BBC from a doctor speaking on the ward. Still that’s MSM so can be doubted by some
  20. Certainly interesting to the unfortunate family, but if the Omicron strain proves to cause only mild symptoms then this sort of headline will backfire. More interesting is that 75 % of people currently hospitalised because of Covid were not vaccinated.
  21. I think you are caught up in your own dystopian world. Everyone that I know is carrying on with their lives as best as they can whether vaccinated or not within the confines of the confusion created by a weak and flip flopping government. Its not the wider public that is the problem and to suggest that everyone is “scared stiff” and “petrified” is ridiculous. What circles do you move in? In addition you say the scientists are more often wrong than right. There are always variations on opinions and only history can suggest which is nearer the truth at some point in time. The current drive to increase vaccination in the U.K. is in my opinion justified and amounts to no more than any type of insurance. That is its a collective safeguard against a problem that we hope will not happen. As in the Brexit discussions,Project Fear is a tool that can be used equally by both extremes of an argument and you are contributing accordingly .
  22. Unfortunately, pursuing Johnson for this particular incident will only give him and his support group a nice weak diversion from the more serious issues.
  23. Th There is much truth in this. Only 2 weeks in and the indications are more infectious but likely to be less serious. So it is undoubtedly being used to encourage more of the population to get their jabs because IF this mutation or further mutations should prove to cause some serious illness then time will have been lost.It will be too late There are the hardliners who will refuse the vaccine but the demand for the booster remains high and there might be a few waverers who add to the numbers of those vaccinated. As for the new Plan B it is riddled with inconsistencies and does nothing to reassure the public. Of my own sons, one has been in at work throughput the last 2 years, and the other hated working from home and went back at the first opportunity and would hate to be stopped again. The few steps back to normality should not be checked at this stage of the game
