Should You Ever Learn To Drive With Your Parents?
abacus replied to MTheo's topic in General Discussions
Driving instructor let me down, so my Dad took over, he was brill. Yes things have changed since he passed his test, but he can pass on all his years experience of driving, anyone can steer a car, which you learn with instructor, the hard bit is driving, judging speeds of other cars, learning to drive with respect for other users, and reversing into parking spots, when everyone looking at you, I think you learn most when you have passed your test and drive on your own. Scary!!! -
I remember Queens Towers when my dad worked there, it was owned by an engineering firm, in the 1970s! It was great we used to go down on the weekend and pick wild blackberries. It was a great rambling old place, that my sisters and I had great hide and seek games in.

Where can you buy Henderson's Relish in Sheffield?
abacus replied to BDP100's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
my aunty used to live in Africa and had Hendersons on everything, chips, cheese sandwiches..... and she used to take cases of it back with her to Africa...furthest north you can buy it is Leeds -
I havent been for years, but I remember having great picnics at a place called Wyming brook (might not be right spelling!) It is in Lodge moor near the resevoir, you can sit on huge boulders and look at one of the resevoirs below and get eaten alive by midges! enjoy

Obviously there is far too much violence on the telly, on the streets, playground, workplace....etc....etc... But at least on the telly you can always switch off, you cant switch your kids eyes off to the stuff they see on the streets around them every day

enjoyed reading all about my past in these threads! what about mojos? sweet cigerettes and the icecream you used to get from the icecream man - were they called a screwball, they had a bubbly in the bottom and came in a plastic cone shape.
