  1. Having always shied away from comments about the BNP, I have to now agree with some of their policies. Having watched the breaking news over the last couple of days, and the controversy over the New* W**d video, about the alledged treatment of rioters in Iraq - - - well, has anyone sat in their living room casting doubts and castigation, ever faced bricks, bombs, shots from behind family shields. Seen friends killed, heard of friends killed, by the cowards who perpetrate these acts. There have been more violent scenes at a football match in England, or most of the continent, (Who won't send troops) That was the FRENCH - GERMAN - PORTUGESE Police - In Peace. Try and Imagine - - The Fear - The team - The Adrenaline Rush - - and the tactic of "Leadership Snatch" - - Perfected in N.I. It will come in UK, if we don't sort out the divides!
  2. Hi from Sheff I read some of the posts, skimmed the rest - I miss out the juveniles - - Waaaay back - during my service with the - BRITISH Army - - I served with a Nuke entititled regiment - - Therefore, was "P.V.ed" - - I had an ID card then - I believe that meant a background and family history search. It must have been successful - - I stayed there for a few years. I still have it, though the photo looks a bit young. Since then, I have collected various laminated pieces of identification from quite a few countries - - occasionally the blood group is different - - I usually refuse the needle (Understand). I would be very irate to be asked to pay in my own country, where they have had my N.I. Number from the date of my birth, NHS Records (Supposedly) Tax and even contribution & pension records. ARE THEY WIPING THE RECORDS CLEAN?
  3. Tony Older than you - - had my experiences of organised religion (RC) - - marches - bands - beatings - and attempted buggerings (Failed) - - the singing and the chanting. I knew the catechism by heart, I can still understand latin - - I have shot a few people - - but I wouldn't be a suicide bomber for anyone - - I'm intelligent.
  4. Have any of you had to live in a country where "Sharia" law prevails? No wearing of shorts or short sleeved shirts, in 45 Degree temp's - - Woman being beaten in the street for wearing short skirts. Yes, the religious police do exist. Did we have protests when Monty Python sketches showed "God'" as a big black foot decending on "Whoever"???? Who are these people? let them either live in the community they have (Escaped) to - - or return to the country and religion they believe in. In some of those countries - - they would be mown down in the streets - just for protesting.
  5. Sheff's cooking Chicken - - - - Could be free booze too - - - if you don't mind boring stories. Make sure you car is taxed and insured-tested - they report them round here as having been dumped!
  6. I have a few times - - - Algeria - Egypt - Definitely Middle Africa - Dubai - Saudi - Oman and the rest - - anyone want to compete on stories?
  7. I was inroduced to "Steak Tatarre" by a Frenchman. The Famous J.P. LeBerre We were in Oran (Algeria) at the time and he assured me that it had to made from Horsemeat - - apparently contains less harmful germs than beef - when eaten raw. Chopped onion, raw eggs, and hints of herbs and garlic. Delicious with loads of red wine, and fresh baguettes.
  8. Have been happy to be called "Sheff" for more years than I care to remember. About 1960-ish - -Given to me when mates were mates for life. It could be called famous - - certainly known all over the world, and many people don't even know my real name. Of course, it came from my home town of Sheffield, which I always stood up for. I think I was the first to use it on SF, I have the email, I have the website. Cheers Sheff
  9. To okayitsme Love your poem - - look at it from a male point of view. female visciousness and violence does exist, and hurts terribly.
  10. Thanks for the welcome back - - - am still recovering from the trip. Shell employ the Contractor (BGP) Then they audit them for HSE standards. The Policies are just Cut and Paste from numerous Safety Policies from around the Oil Industry. Bridging documents provide "Coverall" let outs, but there still has to be an Audit performed before the job gets an official "Work Order". Shell just rubber stamped the operation, while smilingly accepting the appaling HSE standards. I was there as an HSE "Advisor" to BGP. Of course, due to economical and other restraints, they don't have to take the advice. The Chinese Policy is that all communication goes through Their channels. Via Sat comm - - through BGP.com.cn - - - therefore (Censored) Changed but left with the original signature. You just have to spot the "Too Correct" English. Yorkshirese was useful. While there, my computer was frequently wiped, not very nice people to work for, but they are appearing more and more on the international scene
  11. If any REAL Journalist would like to "Ghost" a good story, feel free to PM me.
  12. I just found this thread, and found it hilarious. Having worked for most of my life with Red-Necked Cajuns - Okie's from Musgogee - Coon-Asses and such, and having to listen to their tales of "Who won the War" - - (Have they ever won one on their own?) I couldn't resist joining in. I do have some good friends in the little old US of A - - but I have certainly met some of their worst exports. A Surveyor, who thought 1.5, 1.50, and 1.500 Kilometers were different distances. A Driller who asked for the location for his next hole, and when told to look at his map, and the location was 1 centimeter south of the line intersection, replied "Im using an 8 inch bit" (100,000 scale map) And a North Dakota man, I brought to England on a visit, andf asked to be shown a bit of History. I lived in Hastings at the time, but he thought Hastings, Pevensey, Winchelsea, and Rye "Old Harbour" were a Disney film set. Nothing was more than a thousand years old, according to him. In the hotel (Queens) in hastings, he asked for a copy of every English language newspaper - - - was upset to recieve about 60. Should these people be alowed to travel? Cheers Sheff
  13. Shell petroleum have now started operations in Saudi Arabia. They call themselves SRAK - - south rub al khali. Some years ago, the BBC made a documentary program about the ecological abuse in Nigeria by Shell - - - The effects of which is still causing strife in the area. I was recently witness to their operations in Saudi - - - BGP, a Chinese Company, - - abject amateurs, but passed as safe by SRAK. Today, they posted "Profits" of 13 Billion. - - - They are now sanctioning the ruination of the Rub Al Khali - - - as I know it - - - Is anyone interested??
  14. "Will & Grace"? I've got testimonials for my successful system. Divorce papers for example. However - - a good life and a "Sweet" one. No Comments from Ky yet, try giving him a meaningfull HUG!!
  15. In my experienced opinion, He Might Be Shy ??

  17. Finding another expatriot yorkshireman, and being able to confound the enemy by talking in dialect.
  18. Kirky - - - I moved a long way from the Manor, where I was Drug Up. The humble abode was often a palace to some of the invited guests. If the oak pannelling and the chesterfield couch didn't do it, the exotic occupation, and the sun tan did. (Not many refusals) Happy Days. :heyhey:
  19. In my Youth (Long Ago), I always took female friends back to my humble abode. Coffee, or Drinks, Honest Gentle conversation, then it was left to the female to decide. A Taxi, in which I may have made the return trip (Chance of a stay at her place) - - if uncomplicated (Husband - By God). Or - - - An uncomplicated offer to stay - - . A system I found very successful, in that the lady made the choices, and I just reaped the benefits (Mostly - I might Add)
  20. Owd Lad - - Your Post brought a smile. Long ago, I was working in Algeria. Travelling back to work, on a crew in the Sahara Desert, I spent a night in a hotel in Algiers. (Alone). Arriving on my crew the next day, and revelling in the fact that I had left a cold wintery Sheffield, for the pleasantly warm Algerian sunshine, I was strolling around the crew, enjoying the Sun. I slipped my shirt off to feel the rays better, and glancing down, was struck by the thought "I Don't have Freckles on my Chest"!! Further investigation, and I didn't have freckles on my Chest, I had Crabs. Not the kind you were saying are more trouble than they're worth. A liberal application of "Shelltox", a particularly deadly insecticide airosol (Probably well Banned these days), cured the problem, and an anxious wait for the "Egg incubation period", showed that I was Cured. It laid to rest the old saying that they were only passed on by Physical Contact though. Different Crabs - - but just as troublesome.
  21. I faught it wer Carter Know all - - Gossip Merchant Extrordinaire
  22. At the age of 17 after a few of the oft mentioned jobs of tea maker and paper boy etc. I was a "Wire Drawer" at Tinsley Wire - - - there were a lot of one armed or one legged men around Tinsley at the time. (Late 50's). I did twelve hour shifts, seven days per week, alternate weeks days/nights. The overtime/shift/danger money, gave me the princely sum of £25 per week, a princely sum then, but was too knackered to spend it.
