Has the Red Lion pub on Penistone Road at Grenoside closed?

Just come past and still all closed up. Looks like another pub has bit the dust

Looks like they may have just left in a hurry

I was told the reason for closure is that the landlord asked the owners to update the kitchen facilities. They refused, the landlord withheld rent in protest and was duly evicted.

It closed for a while a few years ago when the landlord had the audacity to make a decent living out of the pub and the owners decided to raise the rent. The landlord walked away but returned when the owners backed down.

Pub companies are greedy

We had our Xmas dinner booked here and we still haven't had our deposit returned to us despite the landlord asking for our name and address and twice promising to get our deposit to us ASAP. Anyone else had this problem?
