  3. Anyone got any more info on this? Be really interested to hear when it might re open...or what the refurb plans are etc... Very pleased it will re open as a pub, great for the area...
  4. Arrhhh. Seems to make sense. Like a dense smokey smell? Really horrible. Windows will be shut tomorrow eve... Yuk.
  5. Hey all-anyone in the Walkley area suffered from a really strong burning smell in the air tonight and last night? It's horrible, really strong. I can't seem to pinpoint where the fire is...can't see any smoke either. Anyone? ---------- Post added 07-08-2014 at 21:34 ---------- Sorry for the spelling error in thread topic.
  6. Hi there I too live on Walkley Lane and have done since 2007. It was my first house purchase after moving on from from parents place in Nether Edge. I absolutely love it around there, and really wouldnt swap it for anything else in Sheffield unless I had stupid money. Walkley Lane and the surrounding area are just so handy for everything you may want. Countryside is less than a 5minute drive away, Hillsborough shops are great to pop into for bits and bobs and the Morrison's is obviously there for everything else. We often use Crookes too for shopping, and walk round Dam Flask in summer evenings which again is so close by. It is such an underrated area of Sheffield, and not many places have the transport links into town as it does. As another fellow 'Walkley Laner' has said, my neighbours are great and always about to borrow things/keep an eye on the house/take bins out etc. I cant comment on living in Hillsborough directly, but we do walk down the road alot and have friends that live across from the park... I have never had any bother down there. The only thing I would say is that I wouldn't chose to go to any of the pubs in Hillsborough corner itself, I would tend to 'go up the hill' to pubs on Crookes or on Commonside (the Hallamshire Hotel being my favourite). I dont think you can go too far wrong in lower Walkley or Hillsborough...its a cracking area, just dont tell too many people! ;-)
  7. Hi - I have recently knocked out our attic in our terraced house to triple its size (gone right into the eves etc). Now its all opened up, I'm now at a stage where I need a to buy the balustrade and get some one to fit it for the top of the stairs. I understand this is quite a skilled job and the wood is not cheap (if you don't go for pine!) I have gone to 'Heeley Stairparts', who were very knowledgeable and friendly, but they seemed a tad on the expensive side. Although I am willing to use them (they have goo rep), has any one had good service from other places in Sheffield, or have any useful advice? - I am wanting Hemlock wood and a skilled and trusted fitter. Thanks all Steve
  8. Hi I was a new comer last night, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Please could you sign me up and add me to the list for Tuesday 7th Feb? Cheers Stephen Neary
  9. No idea - i just know they were very good! Looks like I will have to find another place to purchase our kitchen floor tiles. Big shame they have gone.
  10. I live on walkley lane, we love it round there. Great for the tram down the road in Hillsborough, and great for shopping in Crookes. 10mins in the car from Broomhill and Eccy road. Also, less than that to the Loxley vally (Dam Flask etc etc). We happen to have great neighbours too, which is a bonus. Value for money wise, Walkley is hard to beat imo.
  11. Where did the OP specify price was an issue?
  12. Did anyone get to the bottom of where HTC relocated to? Always used James in the past, and we now require some floor tiles for our new kitchen and would like to purchase from HTC....
  13. ...this is also a great place for breaky, i sometimes have their breakfasts for mu lunch! (good smoothies too...)
  14. Rhine Golds garden centre in Loxley is really nice for breakfast in the summer, the outside section is lovely. Table service. They do all the usual full English etc...great setting to start off a Sunday!
  15. Go to the uni reception areas to flog em, after all isn't that your target market?
