Caesars Wicker. Previous building use?
Siren replied to Super Hans's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
I have memories of going to a Xmas party in that area, it reminded me, at the time, of parties I'd been to at the Loco Club, same food same type of people running it. Can't be certain it was that building though. -
My Grandfather lived on Green Lane and went to the Lancasterian School at Bowling Green St. I have a medal he was given for good attendance and timekeeping at this school. It goes well with his medals from WW1,his service record and his Court Marshall papers.

Dennis Cerrone lived opposite you on Helen Terrace. We spent hours together in Roe Woods looking for frogs and birds nests.
-
John Did you have brothers, David and Kevin?

The original St Elisabeths was on a triangular piece of land bound by Queens Rd,Duchess Rd and Farm Rd. The building itself was almost on the exact spot as the old Heartbeat night club. Its on the 1892 to 1914 25 inch OS map.

Pitsmoor Boy I have a partial service record of a man I think is your relative. How can I get it to you.

F/Phil Thanks for that I have a very vague recollection of the name Reynolds. I remember the bombsites,I lived on Grove St till I was about 5 or 6. b.1947. Does that fit with you age range?
-
Do you have any family names. I grew up near to both those areas,Grove Street,Rock Street,Brunswick Rd.

Tom Have a look on the West Bar Italians site there are people of that name on it (similar). Check the Marriages section. http://www.west-bar-italians.co.uk/#/marriages-d-r/4534878071

I'm having the same problem. No idea why.

Try the site below, if you are unaware of it. We have a meeting every year around Sept Oct time. Ive seen the Franchittis attend Franchettis likely to be the same family family. I think Bucceieri also attend. There is also a closed site on Facebook. If you send me you details and email I can join you. Dennis http://www.west-bar-italians.co.uk/

Its worked this time Joannie. Did you know Owler Lane was demolished years ago. Hinde House was demolished more recently. Pity really they held a lot of memories. -

Joannie I remember Dave Wilson. He did go to New Mills I spoke to him a few years ago via email, he's still there. Obviously grown up and with his own family now. I didn't even know there was a school trip to Paris, they probably "forgot" to mention it to my class. Did you go to the reunion about 20yrs ago -

Alan Good to hear from you, I live not far from you I'm 68 in October. Still walking and biking, nothing as strenuous as squash. Not too many from our year on the site. A good few either side though. ---------- Post added 01-09-2015 at 18:01 ---------- Glyn Either will do. I had another nickname as well used by only a few. It wasn't very complimentary.I never reveal it.
