May I ask for any reviews or feedback that people may have on a builder that we are close to hiring? His name is Kenny Brakes and his firm is called Kenny Brakes Joinery. Has anyone dealt with him before please? He seems to be a lovely chap to talk to, very approachable and seemed knowledgeable. I would love it if the work ethic were to be equally good.

So, I read up all the planning permission documents with the application details, the against and for comments from neighbours and finally the decision notice. If it was decided to not grant permission, can it still be demolished by new owners (would they need no permission for demolishing itself) or am I missing something in the process of planning etc?

Just back from a trip to the new Ikea (got a special invite through a friend for the soft launch) and was duly impressed. Layout wise, it was good. The store is humongous and cafe more accesible from various parts of the store. Signage explaining the layouts, numbering the departments were very helpful. Lots of staff on hand too. All in all, a very good aditiion to the Sheffield retail scene. Can't wait to spend more of my hard earned money on Ikea

If you are having a mortgage, it's probably a policy regulation from your mortgage company/bank to have buildings insurance. You should be able to get one within a decent range of £50-£150. Most comparison websites will give you quotes on buildings insurance.

Haha, no I don't work for them, but I work very close to them and I do buy a lot of Asian ingredients, so yes I do have vested interests

The new Ozmen Cash and Carry/ Retail store has now opened and I had a quick lookie. Came out thoroughly impressed. The range they are carrying is quite varied and the prices looked right for most products that I could see. Worth having a look if you are close by. It's on the junction of John Street and Hill Street.

Moving back to sheffield - where not to move to
Naz_India replied to Natasha1978's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I have moved to Lodge Moor area or very close to Lodge Moor. If you are a young family, you'll probably enjoy and appreciate the quiter, cleaner, countryside feel to it. I am very pleased with our move. -
Have you got any updates on your offer op? How did it go?

Excellent tips here. Also, if you like the house and it is one of the desirable areas, do not dilly dally, if you are feeling sure, make an offer. Houses in good areas tend to get picked up like hot cakes.

Just wanted to join in the discussion In the process of selling as well as buying. We have been reaching milestones in both the processes but it still feels like everything takes ages. YBS have been good to us. Offered the highest amount among many others. But they still offered abt 15k lower than what we had wanted:|

New South Indian/Sri Lankan restaurant on Cumberland Street
Naz_India replied to NT86's topic in Going out in Sheffield
Just back from a lunch there. I just had the idli meal which was reasonanbly good, with a just small portion of sambhar. The owner said he was happy to get me another free portion of sambhar so that's good. The idlis are huge in size. Tastewise it was v good and homely I would say.
