  1. As I'm sure you all know, taxi companies have used ringback to inform customers their taxi is here for years now. There is another way that's available, but costs the taxi company (i.e. the cost of a text message) ... Text back. You get a text message telling you the cab is here - AND it gives you the make and model of car as well as the registration number.
  2. It's 10 minutes. and please please please (x 1000 times) DON'T park at the side of these spaces waiting for one to come vacant. It causes MAYHEM in the queue behind..... Does as the previous poster said, park in the multi storey for 30 minutes FREE.
  3. sorry that's where I meant. Shame - been in a few times and it's a nice place, good food etc. But as has been said before maybe wrong location......
  4. Spot on there Dink. The whole area is a nightmare - from the bus station where buses need to come out, turn left then immediate right up Ripley Street. They constantly block the road - and I don't always blame them either cos if they didn't then they would never get out of the station. Also the level crossing just below. I know of at least one fatality there years ago when an old woman walked out behind a vehicle and was knocked down. How can it be safe to have a pelican crossing that has traffic lights for it 20 yards away? If you're heading to Hillsborough you go through the lights then the crossing is at least 20 yards further down. Ridiculous. Supertram also need to look at installing another set of points near the Langsett stop - the gap between Shalesmoor where the points are now and Hillsborough is way to big when owt like this happens.
  5. Hillsborough club on Bradfield Rd has a lift and full disabled facilities
  6. That car has been there for weeks - it was there before Christmas.
  7. btw It is illegal for anyone - including the driver - to smoke in a taxi AT ANYTIME!
  8. Well for a start 99% of taxi drivers are self employed - they work what hours they like, so I'm unsure what you're getting at with the 'unscrupulous employers' bit. The original post also mentioned drivers working 30 hour shifts?? Well that's what the :loopy::loopy: was for - nothing like exagerating a point to drive it home is there? So yes some drivers will work long hours - personally I very rarely work longer than a 10 hour shift, especially in this weather cos driving just knackers me out. But why just have a go at taxi drivers saying they need to be brought in line with others e.g. LGV / bus drivers? How about delivery drivers, couriers etc I could go on...... Unfortunately the amount of money a taxi driver earns isn't what it was 10 years ago. So many about now to share the work amongst, ANYONE in that situation with the chance of working extra hours would take it. It doesn't automatically equate to said drivers being anymore dangerous.
  9. Had Guru to go last night for the first time.... Very impressed!!
