  1. Thank you so much everyone, I went to a pet shop this morning and have bought holistic natural dried cat biscuits which he wolfed down!!! he couldn't get enough of them and since hasn't been tempted by grass! I may be onto a winner.... He is going to the toilet normally and is short haired so I think it may be something to do with him expressing his opinion as you say Medusa! I'll keep the cat grass in mind also wondertec. Thank you again for all your help - am feeling happier about the whole thing now. x
  2. thank you for your help! I've registered with catchat, just waiting for my activation code. I'll also take a look at the company you suggest. when i got up this morning both bowls had been cleared but i don't know whether its stanley having 2 teas or whether gordon has actually eaten something!
  3. Dear Forum I recently took on another rescue cat, 10 month old male who we have named Gordon. He is an absolute sweetie, very friendly, very happy in himself - bounding around the house and garden and playing with my other cat Stanley. However, he is absolutely insistent on eating house plants and now he is going outside my potted plants, weeds etc! He has been sick quite a few times since we have adopted him (probably every other day to every three days over the last couple of weeks). I am feeding him exactly what the rescue centre gave him (felix pouches) which he sometimes eats some of - but mainly eats leaves. The resuce centre told me he was eating fine with no problems, I have also tried kitten food and other brand pouches. There are also biscuits down for them to munch on when they feel like it but he doesn't seem to touch these either?? Tonight I gave them both their tea - Stanley gobbled his as usual and Gordon just turned his nose up and went outside to eat plants!!! Every evening they have bedtime treats (a couple of whiskers kit bit things) which he will happily eat. He also happily ate a prawn earlier today! I just don't get it - he isn't miserable, doesn't look ill - he just seems to prefer plants which obviously make him sick. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why this would be and can I do anything? The only thing I can think to do is take him to the vet. Thanks in advance x
  4. When we go away Anna from Woof Woof Meow comes in and looks after Stanley our cat! He likes her so much that he brought her a decapitated mouse as a present - lovely!! I could never put him in a cattery and this way he gets to stay at home and visit the neighbours who give him lots of love also.
  5. Hello My mum and dad are mid moving house and have asked me to look after their cat - Puss (male)! The house they are moving to isn't ready yet so they are having to stay with friends/relatives in the interim and mum is really concerned not to upset Puss any more than necessary as he is quite old now, 14 years. He has never lived anywhere else and only knows me, mum and dad. As such, I have taken him on a temporary basis until they move into their new house and come to take him back, saves potentially constantly moving him. Should only be a couple of weeks. I already have a cat, Stanley, and both Stanley and Puss are very friendly loving cats individually. I introduced them earlier, a supervised introduction. Puss wasn't fussed and seemed disinterested. Stanley on the otherhand was very intrigued and went over to greet Puss but did "growl" a couple of times. He never hissed and his hairs didn't stand on end. I separated them after Stanley "growled" for a 3rd time. What should I do next? I don't want to upset Puss as he has had so much upheaval already but equally I don't want to upset Stanley as this is his house. Has anyone got any advice, should I just let them get on with it or try and keep them apart?
  6. Thanks Medusa, I feel much better after reading your post! I'll keep a close eye on him, hopefully he'll be back to normal soon.
  7. Hello I took my cat Stanley to the vet today for his annual booster and ever since we have been home (since 11am) he has been sleeping pretty much constantly and been really down and disinterested in everything, including food!! I gave him his tea at 6pm as usual and he normally goes mad for it - he hasn't touched it! I have tried to give him fresh chicken and his absolute favourite treats and he isn't interested which is SO unlike him, especially when he hasn't even had his tea!! I am really worried as he just isn't being "normal". Please can anyone give me any advice? Am I just being an over paranoid cat mum? Thanks
  8. Thanks! I have actually moved to Ecclesall (forgot to update my profile - oops!)
  9. Hello Has anyone used Winchester Garage on Murray Road in Greystones? They specialise in german cars. I have had some bad experiences with small garages so would really appreciate it if anyone has any feedback on Winchester Garage before I take my car there. Thanks in advance.
  10. We have recently been visited by one male and one female duck. They have decided to take up residence on our pond and quacking at my cat Stanley, much to his disgust! We only moved into our house in December last year and I understand from our neighbours that the ducks have come the last couple of years also around this time. They are very entertaining and quite cheeky as they come quacking up to the back door! I don't want to encourage them as they are wild so am inclined to leave them be. Is this the right thing to do - what do others think?
  11. I was sadly privy to this email today, it really upset me. What kind of sicko does that and what kind of people go and look!?! I have signed the petition and implore others to do the same - this disgusting, cruel act cannot be allowed to happen again! Please please please sign to stop this happening again.
  12. Hi Gemima - thanks for the suggestions. I went to Thornberry today and registered with them. Unfortunately there was no one suitable to adopt. Mrsjet - please could you let me know where your friend lives as I would be interested in seeing the cat. could you also please let me know why she is re-homing her. many thanks
  13. I rescued a male cat last April - Stanley - I would absolutely love to rehome a companion for him, ideally female to avoid potential dominance disputes! Stanley was starved and unloved however now has a fair size belly, loves his food and as much attention as you can give him. He is such a friendly, happy cat and spoilt rotten! I would like to give another unwanted cat a loving home for the rest of its life. Ideally I would like a young female cat (not a kitten), the vet thinks Stanley is 2-3 years old so a cat who is around the same age would be perfect so they can grow old together. I would also like the cat to be used to other cats - I don't want to upset Stanley - and who is also very friendly. If anyone knows of a cat in need of a very loving home to be spoilt for the rest of her life please let me know as I have one waiting.
  14. Thanks everyone. I'll try some suggestions tonight and see what happens!! I also heard putting mustard on your hands but I would stink!! Maybe as a last resort! Lancs Lad - Used to live in Cheshire - forgot to update details! :-)
  15. Hi, I have an English Springer Spaniel puppy who is coming up to 8 weeks old. He is absolutely gorgeous but is insistent on chewing/biting my hands. I understand he is probably teething but wondered if anyone had any advice to stop him chewing/biting me. We have bought him so many toys, including teething toys and chew sticks but he still chews me! I have tried walking away, saying no etc etc but is doesn't work, he just finds something else to chew then when I sit down again goes for my hands and arms! I've heard he will grow out of it and then lick but is there anything I can do in the meantime to stop him? Any help would be much appreciated!
