  1. The only statement I made still applies: this shouldn't be a lifestyle we condone in this day. It's not like these people are travelling around the country digging canals/building railway lines is it? If they want to live somewhere they should have to pay the charges like us normal folk do. And no, I don't like paying it either.
  2. I've been living near to the tram tracks at Hillsborough for about ten years now and I'm more than used to the noise of the trams going by- like a gentle rumble as I'm close by, but not too close. Recently I've noticed the noise from the trams has been getting much louder and it seems to be the new trams that are causing the problem. When one of the train-trams goes by it's almost like it's shaking the whole house. I can't imagine what it'd be like for the people who live closer to the tracks. Anyway, I was wondering if this was just my imagination or if anybody else has noticed the same? As a side note, I've noticed that the track beds seem to have degraded quite a lot too, lots of them seem to be cracked and have big chunks missing. I wonder if this could be linked?
  3. Maybe if parents weren't driving their kids to school we wouldn't have such a problem there then? I'm all for the Lidl. It'll be nice and handy and I think it's a great shop. Yeah it could be in a better place, but then I'd probably want it slightly closer to me if I had the option.
  4. You can still get them from places but they now call them Heavy Duty lightbulbs or something like that. Think I got my last lot from home bargains.
  5. Hey cyclone, if you'd like to help someone get hammered all day I could do with a hand; I'm really sad and I'd rather not go to work. I'd much prefer to get leathered somewhere and you seem to have a few beans knocking about, fancy making a significant donation to my cause? And also; most of the people I know who took 'class a drugs' didn't have a disease, they took them because, for the most part, they are awesome or at least they make them feel awesome for a short time. People who think this, or alcoholism, is something you can catch have either never had either drugs or booze, or have a mental problem where they believe a sky fairy is controlling them.
  6. That's probably because it's got nowt to do with you. Seriously, why do the people here want to run everything down? This tram extension has the ability to save the future of the supertram if it's a success and could even lead to expansions again in the future if lessons have been learned (I'm sure they will have). If we all just moan and complain about it we'll be like our grandparents generation but we'll get to tell the younguns stories about "catchin t'tram ter Medderall all t'way from Hillsborough. Eee it only cost £2.40 and took twenty minutes, and look what we've got now!" I shudder to think what we'd end up with. Maybe more yellow bikes again? Could be flying cars but no doubt Sheffield council would find a way to block them and much rather we brought back the horse and cart so they could implement a dung tax.
  7. It sounded like the tram was running until the early hours of this morning, possibly even all night as I did keep walking up because of something. Last stages of driver training maybe?
  8. You're right, it's not their fault. Must be something to do with society. These people clearly have some issues that mean they've got to sit outside asking for money while drinking Skol rather than getting help from any of the well-funded agencies and charities around town. They should stay where they are, the little darlings, while we workers shower them with benefits and pay for their housing. Yes this all seems very unfair on them.
  9. If someone's opened one up in S10 it would probably explain the bunch of spice zombies I saw outside the costa in broomhill recently. I don't think it really matters where you put the services, these people are useless and will run anywhere down. Sad but true.
  10. Oh I dunno, they could clean themselves up then go and get jobs? Volunteer somewhere so they can make a positive impact on society? Help other tramps off the street? That wasn't a nasty post, it's the post of a person who has had enough. I work in town and feel for the poor students who have arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed and are confronted daily by the extra strong lager swilling, spice smoking scumbags who are now on every street corner. It's bad enough for me, so I just don't leave the office during the day and bolt straight out of town once I'm done. The streets must be reclaimed soon, otherwise there's no point in anyone civilised going to town as it's a haven for tramps. I maintain that this isn't an addiction, it's a lifestyle choice that is being funded by people who are afraid and too stupid to see they're paying for someone to self destruct and take out the city centre too. A start would be to get all of the support services out of the city centre. There's no reason for either the homeless or the bleeding heart charities to be located there as they can be located anywhere. I nominated they move to any of the run down sections of town, full of old steelworks, which currently have little purpose anyway. Get them away from the centre.
  11. What? You turn into a warewolf?!? And what's going on with all these stabbings? Is the city of sanctuary biting us in the bottom?
  12. OK... That was a silly statement. So we'll try this one: The tram renewal for the next thirty years would cost just about as much as the EU spends every year to move to Strasbourg for four days a month. Seriously, which do you reckon we'll end up with though: crossrail 2 or the tram renewal? Sadly I think we all know the answer. Enjoy the tram while it lasts!
  13. Can anyone recommend someone who can replace my gutters and drainpipes on a terraced house without charging an arm and a leg? Noticed mine at the back is in a really bad state now I'm back in the house :S I'm in S6
  14. If people can't drive the snake without getting scared they shouldn't really be driving at all. Time for a bus pass.
  15. Yeah but us westerners don't block the roads and race them down the streets. I've noticed a lot of Asian lads racing big cars down penistone road too. I put it down to the heat sending everyone a bit loopy but maybe the weddings are to blame. And no, liking fireworks doesn't mean your poor, just a bit stupid! What a waste of money they are! And it's true, they are appreciated more where people don't have cash. Look at it this way: last fireworks night I drove through Sheffield with parsons cross looking like the end of a Disneyland parade bit by the time I got up to crosspool there was hardly anything. Fact! Ha!
