Musiquita en Vivo! Live music at La Mama Saturday 30th March… July Julay is the UK’s premier Dominican Salsa and Bachata singer/guitarist and he’s returning to La Mama this month! Originally from the Dominican Republic, July has rapidly established a reputation as one of the leading Bachata singers in Europe, performing both with his own band and as a guest singer with other artists at venues across the UK. In 2009, he released his first album “Sin Ningun Temor” to much critical acclaim and has since released singles which have had radio play back home in Santo Domingo and have resulted in him making several TV show appearances there during the last few years. Musiquita en Vivo! Live music at La Mama Saturday 1st December… The ever popular Latin and Jazz vocalist Sally Doherty returns to La Mama. A renowned singer-songwriter who has performed nationwide and throughout Europe, Sally will this evening perform songs from her impressive Latin and Jazz repertoire. Inspired by such Jazz singers as Chet Baker, Nina Simone and Billy Holiday and Brazilian singers João Gilberto, Elis Regina and Maria Creuza, Sally will be performing Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba, Mexican and Cuban Boleros, amongst other Latin American and Jazz styles. Live music at La Mama Monday 24th December… For a special Christmas Eve we are delighted to have the very talented Jemma Freese – a recent graduate from Leeds College of Music in Composition & Jazz and part of Jazz North Introduces, a handful of places she has performed at are Whites, Cucina, Cubana, Revolution De Cuba, Seven Arts, Marsden Jazz Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival, Bankside Festival, The Domino Club and Hyde Park Pub and she is soon to play at Vortex Jazz Club in London. On this very Christmassy occasion Jemma will be performing a number of festive favourites amongst her wider Jazz repertoire. The restaurant opens at 5pm this Christmas Eve with live music from 6pm.
