  1. Drop an email to Virginia.Lowes@AgeUKSheffield.org.uk Feel free to mention me in the email, William Hancock
  2. If you like helping people with IT you could always sign up to help Age UK Sheffield Digital Champions? It's currently once a month but we're working with other partners to provide home visits in the future. There's no profit to be had in it though
  3. A though Chromebook with USB mouse would be perfect. Virtually indestructible, doesn't need antivirus, doesn't break, can be restored in seconds and it powers on in an instant. Doesn't have windows and offline use is limited but Google has it's own versions of office applications and there's also office online now.
  4. Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any replies After a coil spring replacement (and wheel alignment) would a vehicle need further wheel alignments over the next year or two? Just curious Will
  5. I'm paying about that for hosting (domain names on top) but I get unlimited everything (domains, emails, traffic, data etc.) If you're just using email address then maybe buddy up with someone. I've got about 3 active websites and upwards of 75 email addresses over about 10 different domains. Most of my family / friends just pay for their own domain through paypal and buy me a beer.
  6. It's the 2nd thing on my list whenever I'm repairing a Laptop/PC 1. Is there enough memory (RAM) 2. Does it have an SSD 3. When was the last time it was factory reset I'll always do all three of these on EVERY one I repair. At £30 ish people are amazed by the results
  7. Got a few things from them. Postage took a while but everything was above board
  8. I can recommend these, I have about 15 Hue products including this one http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5586206?cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157|cid:199888953|agid:17471341833|tid:aud-144400486596:pla-256826444316|crid:74692319793|nw:g|rnd:15736698113078450100|dvc:c|adp:1o3|mt:|loc:9046358&gclid=CjwKCAiA24PVBRBvEiwAyBxf-ZZiHahyZVX-7POwP2dO2TehAQJVP_b1LeR-Es7RQ8c4SJr3jB4PKxoCBwoQAvD_BwE
  9. 2 x cameras (1x 720p, 1x 1080p) + 1 IR floodlight I use my own CCTV server (a old windows PC) so it only costs me the electricity. ---------- Post added 22-02-2018 at 10:04 ---------- An IP camera that plugs into the internet or WiFi? Could be that the ports aren't open on your router to be able to access the feed? Can you get to it from a computer?
  10. Confirmed, I’ve had a reply from Vodafone on my latest fault ticket: I’m gonna stick it out for a few months but think I’ll probably leave if the upgrade isn’t in place by April
  11. Hi everyone Thanks in advance for reading. Is anyone else having an issue with Speed on Vodafone Broadband or any Fibre Broadband in the S5 are? I’m a really heavy user and have 30/40 devises connected at all times. The Vodafone router wasn’t able to keep up so I convinced them to give me my login details to use my own equipment. I’m using a Netgear modem and Google WiFi which works amazing. 38Mbps Down and 9Mbps Up no problems. Even traffic internally between my Media Streamer and the rests of the house has perked up two fold. Since January I’ve been seeing really slow speeds at peak times and I’ve reported this twice to Vodafone. The first time I was fobbed off and the second time they accused my own equipment to be faulty. After I plugged back in their router and got exactly the same results they started to take me a bit more seriously and I have a 3rd open investigation underway. Now... just before Christmas the BT cabinet which I suspect provides my service was damaged in an RTC. Openreach have secured the cabinet the best they could as it needs a brand new instillation because the whole thing is bent. I’m wondering if there’s been damage that would reduce the capacity of that cabinet just enough so that at peak times it can’t keep up but from 1am to 4pm it works perfectly. It’s currently 15:45 and I’ve been getting 38 Down and 9 Up until about 15:30 when it started to slowly decline. I’m currently getting 16 Down and 8 Up but by 8pm it’s usually all the way down to 1.5 Down and 8 Up Would love to hear your thoughts / experiences. Cheers Will
  12. I don't think so, I've seen the ISS loads of times and it wasn't that. Way faster and defiantly fizzled up mid sky rather than going out of view. Good call though
  13. Did anyone else see and object burning up in the nights sky on Monday the 29th of January at approximately 18:27 I was stood in Chapeltown looking almost directly south and saw something moving quite fast and bright before vanishing / burning out. Just thought I'd check
  14. The router (and computer) must be pretty old if you're using Firewire. If the socket downstairs isn't misbehaving then you could just try an extension cable from it to the router upstairs?
  15. Ey up, Best thing here would be to 1. Use uSwitch to change suppliers https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/ 2. Plug the new router into the main phone socket. 3. Buy a used Linksys WRT54G router from ebay for £5 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/linksys-wrt54g-ver-7-wireless-g-broadband-router-power-set-up-cd-instructions-/132390976751 4. Install DD WRT onto the router https://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database 5.Configure the router as a Client Bridge If you need help with any of this just give me a shout *will work for tea and biscuits
