oh well, i will do a presentation about sheffield on 8th of june ( for my english class in germany), and here i will write about what i will talk, so you dont need to read this, you probably know everything, so it wouldnt be very interesting for you, nevertheless i m now writing about it, and after that you all can say that it is rubbish , and critzise me, or give me some tipps to improve it- comme vous voulez ....
okay i will start with one song "this is hardcore" by pulp (you all know it, right?), and its a bit funny, you know i m a bit the good girl (good in school, read a lot, no drinking, no smoking etc.), i think its good as a contrast and then i will say something like " this song is a good start for the presentation, its a quite amusing to sing it loud while driving to school, you know its a song by this group pulp, now you know one reason why you should go to sheffield.... and theres another singer who was born there too, its joe cocker, i hope you all know them, quite famous is he.... and the next reason is, like you all know i love football (this is of course very ridiculous, i dont like any sports, and they all know this), you must know that in sheffield the first football rule book was written- so you must go there! you have no choice, i know you want.... know i will give you some tipps to survive in this big town as a forgeiner, there are always something you need to keep on mind, maybe you get lonely? yes , you are alone, no one is there to talk to, no one who cares about you- i really dont wish anybody to feel left alone, but sometimes happens this, especially when you are abroad, so if you really need somebody, then go to arundel gate, often at night, there rings the the phone booth, when you walk by, but dont be frightened, its not like this movie "phonebooth", no its just some lonely guy who wants to talk to someone, and exactly this is what you are looking for. so have a nice chat, and everything will look brighter again! (here i wont tell them, that it is a perverse, cause then the whole story were half as good as it is) but sometimes you dont want to talk to a stranger, someone who doesnt speak the same language, and i can understand this, you are homesick and you really want something german to forget all this strange difference between your hometown and this nice, but differnet town, but no worry, i can help you, there s this caffé "giselas" , go there, there you get everything you need: bratwurst, jägerwurst and maybe some german beer? and the people are also quite friendly, heres a mail from gisela und her husband simon, the shop owners," -then i will read ´them the mail-" as you can see, you are welcome there (here i wont tell them that the café has closed last year), now i want you all to wink at me, to do this *wink with the right eye* or that *wink with the left eye*(i need to pracitse it the next days), its a nice gesture, right? its a mess, that never , really never, someone wink at me, so sad, but i m not the only one who doesnt get the honour to be wink at, no, thing like that dont happen anymore in our all day life, germany had forget one old tradion....." here a friend of mine, yagmur, she will start crying, and i will come to her and give her a hanky "oh dear, dont cry, dont be sad, maybe germany has forgot it, but in sheffield they do it on every minute of every day, so go there, and everyone will be wink at you! but attention, if you want to wink back, please use the right eye, you must know nearly 70% of the sheffoielders wink with the right eye, so if you dont want to stand out, then wink with the right one, i know you want to fit in... so trust me, use the right one!.... you must all know i dont like dogs, maybe you like them, that s fine, thats fine,i can understand... and maybe this dog will traval with you, i know 'fiffi' or 'bello' wants to see the world too, so you take him with you, they always get what they want, these little beasts, and the sheffielders love animals, cats, birds, dogs- everything, but they are a bit 'wierd' in one thing, they dont want that the dogs do their business in the parks, i hope you understand this, its a bit unnormal, but you must respect this strange rule (this is of course a joke, in germany , we dont like dogs rest in the park too), or maybe when you are respectless person, you dont wnat to pay for it... the sheffielders sont excuse it, you must pay 50 pounds for every little mountaine, so think before letting your dog doing this thing, such a joke can you cost much! so dont forget the scoopy-bags! ..... i must warn you, there s this guy, imagine you walk along the road, and suddenly he comes to you and preeses a pen in your hand and then he says ' thank you young man' and wants money for it- but dont give it him, hes a sharlatan! a lier! he does this little trick in sheffield and also in their neighbour town rotterdam, so please dont give him your money (i read in this forum, that this person is dead, but does it matter?) now you know what to do, there often things to keep on mind, and if you do all theese things i ve told you, you will have a nice jouney, with out any troubles.... but now i want to show you the real reason why you should go there, pulp, or the other coker are good and maybe you also like football - but thats just little things, yes, just nice sidelines, i will now read you one of one sheffielder then you will understand what i mean (and now, the point is i really need a mail from one of you, please be so nice and do me this favour, you know, babs, you might now her, she promised me to write it, but i thing she has other , more important things on her mind, so please write me a mail to giulia99@gmx.de , say how nice sheffield is and that you want to welcome all the germans... it doesnt matter what you write, but please write, i need your help!)... the real reason is of course the people, its always the people who idenificate a town, a talk with some of them, a nice boundle of people, and they helped me with finding informations, yes they are the real reason- yes, the people!"
maybe you read everything? i hope you find it a bit funny, i didnt want to write a serious presentation about population etc, most of the things i talk about are from the forum, thank you for that....
i hope at least soemone will write a feedback, and perhaps also a mail to my classmates? we will see, love, giulia.
