  1. Looking for recommendations for a builder that could stabilise/repair a crack on an outbuilding and some work on an old stone retaining wall (linked to the outbuilding).
  2. Saved some stone from a garden clearing but found no use for it. About 20 good sized pieces. Free to a good home. S7. PM me for details.
  3. I'm looking to get my campervan off the road for the winter. Either inside or under a cover outside. Does anyone know of somewhere that would take a campervan for the next 6 months or so?
  4. I've just dug 4 railway sleepers out of my garden. Approx 2m long. There's another 2 that are slightly bigger that will be coming out soon. They've been in the ground a while so they're not perfect but still structurally sound and hopefully useful to someone. Free to a good home. Collection only from S7. Message me for details/arranging collection.
  5. Crowns are just Rhubarb plants. It's the bit (mostly) underground, I guess. Pics here. Rhubarb doesn't tend to grow that well from seed so you usually start a rhubarb patch by either buying a small crown or you can divide larger plants by splitting the crown. I wouldn't recommend putting them on your head!
  6. I believe part of the Allotment Act (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Geo5/12-13/51) says holders are due compensation from the landlord for any permanent plants (trees, rhubarb etc) that were planted on the site during their tenancy, unless otherwise agreed. To avoid this compensation the current Sheffield tenancy agreements ask tenants to remove permanent plants when leaving to plot and, "for the purposes of this part of the act", not even plant them in the first place. Could be something to do with this? I know the previous tenants on my plot (although leaving the majority of the plot derelict) came to remove a patch of rhubarb before I got there. They left the raspberry canes though!
  7. I'm in the process of buying a house and never really had the need for tradesmen before. Had two relevant leaflets through the door for roof repairs and an electrician, both of which I am going to use. So, as long as it's relevant, leaflets can still work. Although, it would really depend on the type of business. I'm no technophobe either. I use the internet all day every day.
  8. I joined the waiting list this time last year and was 17th on the list. In January I had moved to 10th (with an apparent waiting list of 3 years), so there should have been at least 6 new owners in the last year. Disappointing if some of them still aren't being used. Would be willing to lend people a hand if anyone's interested?
