  1. Agreed. I did it in 2010, and not only was the fee a bit cheaper (I think), but there were more bands playing music en route, free powerade drinks around the 10-11 mile point, and the goody bag had a few more, well, goodies! Still had fun, and smashed my PB. Even if I did feel awful for it later in the day!
  2. Just a warning to car owners in the Millhouses (S7) area. My car was broken into on Sunday (05/06) evening. The driver-side lock appears to have been "popped out" with a screwdriver or similar device. Both my iPod and TomTom Sat Nav were stolen (I know you shouldn't leave these in your car, but it's a mistake I won't be making again!!). Please be vigilante if anyone offers to sell you these items, the case has been reported to the police.
  3. Yeah, I've had mucky water for most of the afternoon.. Contrary to what's been posted however, we've been told NOT to run water, and NOT to run washing machines. They also hinted at some kind of major incident, but wouldn't specify details. I went out and bought some bottled water.. Ah well.
  4. No offence taken! Thank you for the tip and the link, I'll be sure to check them out later today as it's my day off. I did actually hand my notice in yesterday. 4/5 weeks should be plenty of time to get something sorted if I put my mind to it. I haven't told my parents though as I don't want them stressing about me again.. I'll be sure to update the thread once I've got something! Thanks again.
  5. Having worked for 2 years at Sainsbury's, I've now had enough of being messed about and treated like something they've trodden on. I'm half tempted to hand in my notice today, but having being unemployed for about 8 months previous to getting the job, signing on isn't really something I'd like to do again.. No matter how unhappy I am there. In an ideal world, I'd like to do some kind of admin work, data input. I have previously applied at the Home Office last year, but never heard anything back from them after my interview. I have some experience, from school and college work and a bit of accounting stuff for my Dad's building & plastering company. I'd like to accompany this with some kind of training course, as I'd like to be a computer technician/engineer. I'm not expecting to be sent on a course by an employer, though it would be incredibly awesome.. Is there an agency or someone I can contact to possibly get in to this sort of work and start the ball rolling? I'm sitting on the borderline of depression due to being so unhappy at Sainsbury's... - Yesterday was the last straw, and made me decide to get something done about it. Thanks in advance, Neo.
  6. Well, this is the only bump I'm gonna give this thread.. There must be someone in a similar age bracket, that goes out somewhere in the area and can recommend it for meeting new people?
  7. Cheers for that list, classicfan! Very useful indeed, hopefully I'll have more luck with some of these than I have the Job Centre Plus site.
  8. Haha, yeah.. As mentioned, a variety! It depends on the mood I'm in.
  9. I'm somewhat embarrassed to be posting this, but I'm looking for events, clubs or even just local nights out. My social life is fairly naff these days, and am constantly being nagged to do something about it.! I live in the S8 area, and I am up for pretty much anything that will get me out and meeting new people. I've tried joining a gym (Esporta) and that didn't really get off to a good start, I haven't been for months other than to try and cancel my membership. I'm 21, and I enjoy playing snooker & pool, I listen to a variety of music (Eminem, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Thousand Foot Krutch, James Blunt, Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, Green Day, The Prodigy), I am pretty handy with a computer & enjoy playing computer games (Xbox 360), I am currently learning to drive & have a general interest in cars and racing (Top Gear is awesome). I've been single for about 3 years now, and really would like to be meeting someone.. Help a guy out?
  10. Sainsbury's are currently having a refit. The official line is that "we're bringing the layout in line with other Sainsbury's stores".. Whether or not that is the actual case, I couldn't tell you - but it's just as confusing for the majority of staff as it is for customers.. They're aiming to have it completed by September 29th.
  11. littleboo, could you possibly e-mail me the names of the 2 people in question? I work at Sainsbury's on Archer Road, pushing trolleys mainly although I do work on checkouts too if we're busy. Tension has been rising between supervisors/management and staff lately, many people have left since christmas and we are quite badly understaffed although for some reason we don't appear to be recruiting anyone.. Many of us are being asked to do overtime that we don't really want, to compensate. As far as I am aware, nothing has been said about this incident to us by Phil Ronan or anyone else for that matter and I would be intrigued to ask him about it. My e-mail address is: obk395[at]yahoo[dot]co[dot]uk Thanks.
  12. No.. I'd rather stick to the natural stuff thankyou very much! Though it's scary to know that milk from cow's fed on GM feed, may not be labeled as such. I think it's the consumers right to know what exactly they're eating/drinking, which includes it's source and knowing that it's healthy.
  13. Yes it is.. Which is rather unfortunate if you don't have the money to spend in the first place. It can all end up getting rather messy..
  14. I've bought a few items from both Amazon and eBay.. Personally, I've had few problems with either of them. Actually, I've had no problems at all with Amazon (not the market place, don't trust it for some reason). However, my most recent purchase from eBay was Terminator 3 on DVD, and it arrived in a very badly conditioned case, although the auction stated it was new and sealed. The problem with eBay is that you can't simply return the item and ask for another, the blame is landed on Royal Mail and you just can't do anything about it..
  15. No.. I refuse.. http://www.umbrellaonline.co.uk/temp/mousemat1.jpg
