  1. I remember when my mum took us to town,I was about 6yrs old,there were 2 sisters who had a wheelchair and would take it in turns to ride in it up High Street,they were quite large ladies and they would argue about who's turn it was to push,,anyone else remember them?
  2. he had a girlfriend called Russian Edna ,she got murdered and he was accused but wasn't charged so case went cold
  3. Icertainly did Kidley,he was the best,he was 5yrs oldef than me but from a very young age he let me tag along. We went pot holing,caving, train spotting,he even bought a tandam bike because Inever learned to ride one of my ownWhen he died he had his wallet sent to me and in it were the first football game tickets we for the Owls,the letter to say I'd passed my 11plus the first cinema tickets he took me to,the tram ticket and all the letters Ihad ever written to him in a big envelope ---------- Post added 18-08-2018 at 05:52 ---------- and thank you too texas.
  4. Isometimes think we are like a huge flock of sheep, with the odd goat thown in,you only haveto come up with a new fad and in no time everyone is doing it,like new fashions,hair styles etc
  5. I was thinking of the ones we went to as kids,there was one on Woodseats and another near old Abbeydale cinema They had sasparrela,fizzt drinks and exotic ones made of fruit flavours and soda water. there was one called a green godess, which my cousin Roger always refered to as a green gozzer.

  8. my brother introduced me to jazz and the first club he took me to was theVat 69 on west bar it was in a cellar,he took me to Nether Edge every tuesday and all the other clubs,sadly he died last year, he had a fabulous collection of records and I'm hoping my sister in law realises how valuable they are,lots of 78's,I'm hoping Ican get some of them,not for the value just for the memories of the two of us listening to some of the greatest jazz performances ever.
  9. my mum was one of the women that put out incendery bombs and my dad worked at British Steel,one of my earliest memories is of an air raid, my dad was carrying me the the shelter and I looked up, the sky was bright yellow and there were huge black planes flying over.
  10. thas as thin as a satdi chicken,my dad used it ---------- Post added 13-08-2018 at 02:02 ---------- my dad used to say "stop pickin tha noo us,the eared ul cave in" ---------- Post added 13-08-2018 at 02:55 ---------- the satdi chicken or shillin chickin come about because when the market closed on a satdi they slod the leftover ones cheap,all the best ones had gone and only the scraggy thin ones were left and only cost a shilling ---------- Post added 13-08-2018 at 02:58 ---------- my late brother had a book of Yorkshire Bible Stories, it was all written in broad yorkshire dialect and was hilarious,don't know what happened to it, has anyone else ever seen one?
  11. Itrained as a gymnast from an early age and was always practising in our garden,my mum worried by some of my antics and shouted"don't come running to me when you break both your legs" and if she slapped us she always said"do you want another one"
  12. my best friends husband says if she goes first he's putting her in a glass coffin and having it made into a coffee table
  13. Istarted school in 1943,Iam left handed and hard to believe it ,but Miss Potter,who taught us,tied my left hand to my chair,to force me to use my right hand,made me quite ill with nausea and headaches my mum found out and put a stop to it,could'nt happen now.

Iget them a couple of times a year but mine are totally chaotic.4am ,in bed sleeping,woken up by loud crack,sat up and suddenly had yards and yards of material thrown over me,then ping ping noise of thing hittng my head,struggled to escape,dogs going mad,curtain rail had snapped ,curtains and hooks hitting me. when Iwant in kitchen put roast in oven but it never came on,put roast in halogen oven and it blew up,in frustration went out to cut the hedge not only cut through wire but tripped over cord and broke my wrist,later in hospital had the ward in stitches as Irelated my day.
  15. Iagree with you,I'm having a "green funeral"banana leaf coffin,no headstone,tree of my choice planted and wild flower seed sprinkled over it
