  1. My reply to this thread about should life mean life and my rant about murderers getting the death sentence is merely my opinion. But yes punishment should fit the crime. Rapists, remove their balls. I'm sure any woman having suffered rape would agree. Those sick ******** who are paedophiles, any scum who preys on a child for sexual gratification should be put down. Scum bags who beat the crap out of a pensioner for the little money they have, and this includes the mugging of anyone else too should have their ****ing thieving hand cut off, and I add the slime who burgle the homes of hard working people to this punishment too. Ask yourself. If your grand parents were mugged, or your parents, brother, sister or yourself how would you feel? How would you feel if your home was burgled. Would you say 'The little scallywags deserve a slap on the wrist' OR 'Id like to get my hands on those ******** and cut their ****ing hands off'. I can tell you now what you'd say and how you'd feel. I've been on this planet 58 years and in that time I've seen the society in our country disintegrating and if something isn't done soon it will dissolve altogether. Let the punishment fit the crime. If I was to break the law I would expect to be punished. Lets make the prison's as they were once before and remove their sodding televisions, radios, pool tables and other soft touches they have in prison and turn them into harsh places instead of bloody holiday camps. It seems that in this day and age the scum of our world get it easy and the victims get sod all justice what so ever. And now I've calmed down a bit I'm closing this rant down and going to make myself a cup of tea.
  2. If you take a life intentionally you should be locked up for the rest of your life. I also think the privileges they get in prison now days like pool tables and televisions should be taken away and all prisoners weather murderers, thieves, drug pushers, paedophiles, and other low-life's who cause so much misery for the decent good people in this world, should be made to work for any privilege's as they were made to do up until the do-gooders fought for their human rights. I can hear the protests against my opinion's now, but I say what about the rights of the victims, their family's who are missing a son, daughter, brother, sister, mother or father. In some cases I would go as far as bringing back the death sentence, these days with CCTV and DNA evidence there's little or no doubt of a crime, and in view of the terrible murder of Lee Rigby a few years ago I wouldn't hesitate to have his killer's hung.
  3. I was born in 1959 on thornbridge way, when I was six we moved to silkstone road. The 1960s to me was visiting the rex cinema, or the Odeon down town, playing war with a chair leg for a tommy gun, buttoning my duffle coat at the neck wearing it like a cape and playing at batman, falling in love with catwoman on batman when I was 7 years old, or Sharon Macready one of the Champions of the TV series when I was about 9. bread and butter sarnies and a bottle of water or dandelion and burdock picnicking down on the surrounding fields. bugging my older brothers gorgeous girlfriends to get their attention, or my mates older sisters to get theirs. But most of all in the school holidays were the time spent with my lorry driver dad, who took me all over the country from Sheffield to places like Southampton, Portsmouth, London, Felixstowe, Cardiff, Liverpool, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. By the time I was 10 id seen a good bit of our beautiful country. My dad left lorry driving to work down the pit to give him more time with my mum after she suffered a bleed on the brain which left her with mental illness. Sad to say both are gone now, but my memories of the sixties are happy ones. And when our generation looks back I think our lifetime was better and happier than that todays generation, with their online games, mobile phones, and lack of discipline. Please! someone build a time machine so we can go back to those simpler and happy times. If only we could.
  4. Hiya Stephen 7, slogger here that bounty idea sounds good. If there is karma I hope he lost his arms as well later in life. wonder if they still live on silkstone crescent. with luck they met their end they do say what goes around comes around.
  5. I got a good kicking on my way home from school once or twice for no reason at all when I went to birley spa school. I'd love to bump into one or two of them now to find out if they're as tough as they thought they were then. My brother 8 years older than me bumped into one of his tormentors in a pub around the late 70s. his name was simonite, he was sat at a table and my brother leaned over grabbed him and lifted him up to find he had no legs, with great disappointment he released him and left the pub after telling simonite he was very lucky he had no legs.
  6. Hi I'm Ian Sands and I went to birley spa school around 1966 t0 1970 and I have some great memories of that school, the kids I remember most are Steven Dicks with who I was pals with all the way through my school years. Mark Ashton, Andrew Hull, Andrew Pridmore, Ian Steel, Ian Wood, William Simpson, Vicky Bates, Jaqueline Griffith, Ann Round and Catherine Grayson. The teachers I remember most are Miss Maxfield, I thought she was a bitch. Mr Kennedy, he was a nutcase, Mr August, great teacher. Mr Jephson, another good teacher. and the head teacher who all the kids seemed to love, Mr Rawlings. Another name I remember is Mrs Dyson but she wasn't a teacher.

I went to birley spa school and then frecheville. I remember Catherine Grayson who I went to school with, Miriam Peckit, Mandy Harrison, Diane Whitmore, Lucy Renshaw and her sisters Diane, Dawn, who I went out with for six or seven weeks until she dumped me. at 9 years old I was guttered. and Wendy Renshaw who I went out with for about 4 years until they flitted to Clowne. then the girls my brother went out with, Susan Oxley, Loraine Barstow, and Jill Harrison. and lets not forget my cousin Linda Glynn. Dawns was a bit young at that time to mention here, and my other two cousins Catherine and Christine Bell. Have I missed anyone? Feel free to remind me. ---------- Post added 25-09-2017 at 15:52 ---------- Is it just me or did scowerdons farm estate have the best looking girls in the whole of Sheffield living there. 8. My dad was a deputy at treeton colliery in the 70s his name was Albert Sands and I followed him to work there after leaving school, in January 1976. my names Ian Sands. my time at treeton was short as we moved to Mansfield about September 1977. my memories of treeton are happy ones and I remember during my cps my trainer was a chap called Eric who's nickname was back to front, I also remember the colliery overman Pat Yates, George Ball, nickname Toby and a lanky long haired fella called Rover. I often worked with a chap called John and a Scotsman called Dave but I don't recall their surnames. Left the coal mining industry after the 1984 strike only a handful of the men at Sherwood colliery went on strike and been a Scargill follower I was disappointed with the conduct of the notts miners. Had they joined the strike this country wouldn't be in the state its in.
  9. Ian Sands here, alias Slogger Sands, the worst cricket cricket player at Frecheville School. I was trying to find pictures of the old Stalag luft frecheville when i happened to find this forum, so glad i did as i saw a name from the past, Terry Moat. I was in 5P when i left Frecheville, other names from the past are Steven Dicks alias Diaper, Ian Stewart, Paul Birch, Gary Cooper alias Tommy. The girls were Karen Cahill, Vicky Bates, Diane Woodhead and Julie Hinscliffe. The teachers, Mr Peters, he scared me, Mr Webster, hated him he gave me the Cain three times during my years at Frecheville. Mr and Mrs Frost, liked them. Mrs Smith alias Shultz, anyone remember her, if you was up to no good she just appeared from nowhere, scary, and who can forget Mr Slater who looked like a mad professor, really liked the silly old sod. After Frecheville went to work down Treeton colliery and in 1977 left Sheffield to live in Mansfield and lost contact with my mates, met and married my wife, and back to playing cricket about fifteen years ago my daughter Laura taught me how to use a flippin cricket bat and now I'm a dab hand, lol.
