  1. My Auntie Gloria now lives in Barnsley.
  2. Does anyone remember my Dad? He was called David James Harris. He was born on 16th April 1950 and lived with his gran, his mum Emily and two siblings, Susan and Robert, on Shiregreen. He married my mum Barbara Grubb and I have a brother Jason. I think Mum and Dad lived on Barnsley Road for a while (pre kids). We lived on Industry Street, Walkley but moved when I was around 4/5 to Bishopsholme Road, Norwood. Dad became ill around 1978 and passed away in 1981 at the age of 30. Does anyone have any anecdotes about dad? Even photographs? I would love to hear from you.
  3. I went to Roe Wood Middle School between 1979 and 1981. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in 1981 after a long illness. I adored Mrs Gurnell and Mrs/Miss Singleton as they both provided much needed support at the time. I remember Mrs/Miss Singleton telling me to get my coat and bag one morning as “dad was not well”. Unbeknown to me dad had just passed away and this wonderful woman had to fetch me from class without telling me what had just happened, without getting upset that this little boy she had been helping and supporting had just lost a parent. She took my brother, Jason, and I to swimming galas and was very supportive. I will always remember coming away from one such event bouncing around in the back of her bright yellow VW camper......surrounded by trophies! What I would give just to be able to say “thank you”....
  4. I was at Colley School between 83 and 87. Anyone remember Mark Kelly, Shaun Higgins, John Faben, Kevin Creasey? I wonder what happened to them. Does anyone remember the teachers? Mr Jagger (Head), Miss Bennet (Deputy Head), Mrs Sturgeon (Maths), Miss Lewis (Maths), Mrs Beech (Home Economics and also my form teacher - 2S - 5S), Mr and Mrs Lynn (English - she did appear to be constantly pregnant), Mrs Upton (Home Economics - every lad fancied her if I remember correctly), Mr Dolby (PE), Mr Reid (Art), Mr Gregory (Science), Mr Evans (French), Mr Doron (History - he had a dodgy shoulder blade), Mrs Thackery (Maths). There were a few more but I forget.
  5. Evening everyone, what a wonderful feed. My mum is Barbara Grubb, one of the 17 Grubb clan on Cowper Crescent. Does anyone up here in cyber land have any old school photographs from Foxhill School between 1955 and 1961? Maybe from Chaucer between 1961 and 1966? Possibly with mum on them? The Grubbs were quite extensive to say the least and, as all family photographs have been lost, any pictures would be extremely welcome. Thanks. Finger’s crossed......
