  1. Wasn't this proposed a few years ago? And a petition raised with objections? Is this the same company trying again, or a different one having a go?
  2. There's the other Butterworth's on Catch Bar Lane as well. I can't remember how much it was to get my wheel trued though, it was a long time ago!
  3. It's not. There's still a section that is closed off. Or it was on Friday anyway. And the Harris fencing around the big field seemed to go up and down a few times before it was finally removed! So you've got a small terrace house with no garden, and young children, and little money, and you're close to Hillsborough park - this could be your garden. Where do you go now if you can't afford to get over to Graves, or Millhouses? And yes, I know it wasn't all closed off etc, etc, just trying to illustrate that people may be in different circumstances, and having most of the park closed through the whole of the school summer holiday will affect people differently. Where did the kid's football club go?
  4. 9. Or Cycling UK - they have a legal helpline as well and a fund to support injured cyclists with legal action. In reference to another post, I believe Taylor and Emmet are the solicitors used by Cycling UK
  5. Are you insured? If not, I imagine you would need to employ a solicitor.
  6. But sick people aren't profitable... So what's the business model?
  7. Well this is why I asked! It didn't seem to make sense that you'd have to have a data plan and be connected to it - but that's what 4G meant to me! However, I still haven't received the alert... I do also wonder if there's any plan from the government to measure the outcome of this test, or if they're just throwing things out there...
  8. I might be stating the bleeding obvious here, but if you're phone isn't connected to a 4G/5G network, you won't get the alert. Seems to be a very simple solution staring us in the face... Are people aware that they don't have to be connected to the internet at all times? Or have I missed something?
  9. I haven't read all of this thread, just the last few pages, catching up. I am one of the professions who has recently been called to strike. I personally think I am paid quite well for what I do (though my good friend thinks that's because I don't value myself...) It's not just about the money. It's about chronic underfunding for years, meaning there just aren't enough staff to meet the demand. Teams across the board are struggling to recruit and retain staff, and the people who are there are just told to "work more efficiently" - I can spend time with someone and do a good job, or I can rush through and probably miss important things, potentially putting the patient at risk. I would love to be able to spend the time with patients to do the best job I can, make them feel valued, and dignified, but I have to spread myself so thin to try and see everyone who needs to be seen, it's just not possible. Performance is measured on throughput, not outcomes. It devalues the profession. So no, it's not about greedy, grasping people wanting more money for themselves. It's about highlighting the conditions that don't allow us to do the best job we can and make a difference in somebody's life. Maybe I should re-train as a politician. Does that actually require any qualifications or training? From what I can tell I could do a lot less work and get paid about twice as much. And award myself large payrises whenever I want...
  10. It's never been a question that's come up for me, having only been in the position where it might have been an issue for short periods... But I've never wanted children, and I think I'm at the age now where I might be considered to have "grown out of it" - (i.e. I am older and I haven't changed my mind...) I think it would take away some of the stresses of long-term contraception.
  11. Too true. And have you seen this? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64160868 😳😳
  12. I went to the public dress rehearsal. Didn't really know what it was about before going, but I was absolutely blown away by the production and the performances. There's just something about live theatre...
  13. If the alternative is living alone, and the only people you see are carers coming in for 15-30 minutes at a time. I've known people who don't want to be discharged from hospital because they enjoy the social interaction. You make it sound like people are dropping dead left, right and centre!
  14. I'd also like to put in that some people thrive in care homes. It's not all doom and gloom.
