The obvious place, especially for the train, as already mentioned, is York. If that's too big, then Harrogate. If that's too big, then there are some lovely villages around there, but will be an even longer commute! Harome, Helmsley, Easingwold, Hovingham, etc. I recommend you spend a Weekend in the area and have a drive around. Stay at the Pheasant in Harome, have a meal there, and also at the Star Inn across the road...

Please can someone recommend a plasterer? Got a bedroom that needs all the walls doing, plus a ceiling in the living room, and some skimming over where we've had some new sockets in. We want to paint straight onto the plaster, so looking for a really good, smooth, flat finish. We are in Crookes, and ideally want it doing next week (which I know might be difficult unless a cancellation comes in). Many thanks

Fireplace paint stripping/restoration

Thanks for the advise on the product to use. Is Nitromorse definitely safe for using on the slate, and won't damage the natural finish of the surface? -
Recently bought an old terraced house, and in the process of doing it up. In the living room, there's a large fireplace. The surround is painted glossy white. I think it's made of slate, and I want to restore it back to it's original finish (I think it's black from where a bit of paint has peeled off the bottom of the mantle). Anyone know the best way to get the paint off without damaging the slate? Then once the paint is off, if anything should be applied to help with the finish? If I would be best taking it to somewhere for chemical paint removal, is there such a place in Sheffield? Can post a photo up if that would help... any advice much appreciated!

Think I saw United play Wolves as my first match. Ended up going to quite a lot of matches at Bramall Lane with my Grandad - he was a Dundee United fan who lived in Sheffield and just loved football. So he had a Season ticket for Wednesday AND United so he could go and watch it every week, and whenever his mate couldn't go he would take me. Wonder how many others have ever had a season ticket for both clubs!?

Owls fast track to Premiership - Weaver interview
Neil_JD replied to canadablade's topic in Sheffield Football
One step at a time. Get out of league 1 is the first step, then there is the chance to add to a squad that has a winning mentality and a taste of success for the Championship. Back to back promotion is unlikely, but in recent seasons Norwich, Leeds, Leicester, even Millwall have shown that the standard isn't that much different between a top league one side and a decent Championship side if you have players with desire, work rate, commitment, and a bit of quality mixed in. -

I'm still looking for a competitive 5-a-side league team. Can play any week night 7-10pm. I've played 5-a-side for the past few years in a decent standard league in Newcastle. If any teams are looking for a player, preferably at Goals email me at [email protected] Cheers, Neil -

Hi, Looking to join a 5/6-a-side team to play on a Mon or Thurs evening between 6-10pm. I've just moved (back) to Sheffield after getting a new job. I've played 5-a-side for the past few years in a league in Newcastle, the team played in the 2nd division of 4, so consider myself a fairly decent standard. So, if any teams are looking for a player, preferably to play at Goals drop me a PM. Cheers, Neil
