  1. Afternoon all, Just had Vaillant out to diagnose and replace a blocked heat exchange plate on my Vaillant Ecotec 831 boiler. They said it should be ok, but recommended I get a system flush (not included in protection plan). Can anyone recommend someone? Thanks, Rich
  2. Hi, I found a watch near Froggar car park yesterday. If you think it's yours PM me with details. Cheers, Rich
  3. Hmm would appear you're jumping to some conclusions there... I had the (1st) fault diagnosed with the 3rd party garage. I was quoted £300 from that garage to fix with a new part (EGR valves have been modified from first fit). I then went back to the dealership to discuss. The dealer was only prepared to fit a part from the scrappers so we came to a compromise where he would contribute to the new part being fitted. That was my choice, we weren't banking on the subsequent wiring and gear box faults occuring. Current situation is that i've been on to the dealer, he's agreed to fix the problems with the wiring and gearbox. I've just got to get the car (stuck in reverse) to Wakefield. My month's warranty is up on the 14th March. I'll probably send a recorded letter on Monday so that the issues and agreed outcomes are documented within that period. Thanks for the mostly constructive help and advice. Fingers crossed for a successful resolution! cheers, Rich
  4. Hi, thanks for the replies. It's a 54 plate Ford Focus 1.8 tddi with 84k on the clock. Manual gearbox.
  5. Hi, my wife and i bought a car from a dealer in wakefield 2-3 weeks ago. Since bought it had an engine warning light on, we were initially advised it was just moisture in contacts form them steam cleaning the engine, i took it for 3rd part inspection adn it showed as the EGR valve needing replacing. We got this done and the dealer agreed to split the cost. we were just driving back from the peaks tonight and the gear box failed. we're sick to death with this car it's been in the garage more than we've driven it. Are we entitled to a refund under the Sales of Goods Act as it's clearly not fit for purpose. any advice or recommendations to the best way for us to go about recovering our money would be much appreciated. cheers, Rich
  6. Hi, On my terraced house my neighbour's gutter feeds into mine, and down the downpipe on my property. The problem is that my neighbours guttering has rotted and is falling apart, causing water to run down the side of his house. His house is in a very poor sttae of repair, and i don't want mine to go the same way. Is there any rule that he should keep his house in a good state-of-repair? The guy works and holds down a job, but his house is crumbling around him. Any advice gratefully received. Rich
