  1. Thanks for all the replies and suggestion. No he has NOT come back till today. After quite a few try (text, phone call voice mail and email), he replied one message a week ago saying he is too busy and he said he would be back this week. But today is Thursday he still not showing..... I know I'm fool to pay the money in full before completion... I thought I had trusted the right honest trade man.... :(:(
  2. Found a local tiler via MyBuilder website to do small en-suit wall tiles. There is a waste pipe in the en-suit which needs to be boxed-up and tiled over. Had agreed with the tiler he do the wall first then after joiner boxs-up the pipe he will come back to tile the pipe box later. He agreed in word and in text he would come back this Monday so I paid him in full when he done the wall only as I trusted his word...However, he did not show up yesterday and not reply my text nor answer my phone calls... I have never come cross this kind of thing/person before, could any one kindly advise what should to do about his please? ---------------------------- update_(1st Dec 2016): Thanks for all the replies and suggestion. 3. Maybe this is a silly question but is the Howdens kitchen trade discount the same to ALL builders who have account there regardless how many kitchens were purchased through this trade man/fitter? Or does Howdens has some sort of "points" system, i.e more kitchen units were sold through this account, then more discount apply to this account?
  4. Could anyone kindly recommend trade men for kitchen fitting please? (Crookes & Hillsborough area) --It has 12 units - 2 tall units, 7 base units and 3 wall units. --It includes a gas hob, single oven and extractor (goes to outside). integrated appliance is a dishwasher only. No wash machine. No refrigerator. --Gas, cold/hot water pipes and electricity should be in place before installation so just need to connect them. --The work top is laminate and the same as the floor. No tiles on the wall. --The new kitchen will be a "naked" room - so no old unit or floor need to remove. --Kitchen units would be rigid when delivered. Hopefully it should reduce the cost and time a wee bit. --Floor will be laminate and room size is about 4mx3m
  5. We plan to have a new kitchen fitted before this Christmas. As it is close to Christmas, I think it's better to have a rough idea how much would it cost then set a reasonable budget plan first. Could anyone who has experience or kind trade men who are experts in this area give some information or advice please? --It has 12 units - 2 tall units, 7 base units and 3 wall units. --It includes a gas hob, single oven and extractor (goes to outside). integrated appliance is a dishwasher only. 6. Thanks Chez2 for the double dinner suggestion. I foresee it will take quite long time as the new kitchen does include moving plumbing an gas...we won't go for fancy expensive worktop and hopefully can have two fitters work the same time?
  7. Mintons on Broadfield Road does have good carpet with very reasonable price, but the carpet fitter Mintons used (the one they have sent to my house) is not as impressive as expected to be. Mintons had another fitter to come to my house 3 times to fix the issues caused by the first fitter's non-professional work when he fitted the carpet in our bedroom a couple of years ago.
  8. Hi All, We plan to have a new kitchen done early next year, but not sure how long will it take from place the kitchen units order to complete the installation (ready to use). The new kitchen room size about 5mx4m and 7-10 kitchen units maybe. As we are still living in the house while doing the new kitchen, so hope to get a rough idea how long will need to rely on take-away Thanks in advance for any information and suggestions.
  9. A friend of mine is considering getting some house extension work done and find the hillside ltd which is in Hillside Business Park, Halfway, S20 area. May I ask has anyone had any project experience (good or bad) with this firm before please? Thanks!
  10. Dear All, Plan to re-fit our bathroom: new curved shower bath & mixer shower, new basin & toilet unit, tiles, lighting and etc (no flooring needed) . Might need to replace all piping as well. Bathroom is appro. 175*235 size. Locate in S10 crookes area. We plan to buy all big things (bath, shower and basin&toilet unit) by ourself. Could you give me some rough idea of the fitting and tiling cost please? Thanks in advance. Cindy xx
  11. Hi guys Thinking of updating our 1930s 3 bed semi-d house. In the master bedroom and dining room we have a chimney breast jutting out which makes it a bit awkward. Just wondering if someone could give me an idea how much it would cost to get the chimney breast removed in both the bedroom and dining room (they share the same chimney). Thanks in advance! Cindy xx
