No it's certainly not the longest in Europe - it's around 9500 feet whereas the two parallel runways at Heathrow are over 12000 ft.

It's probably a straightforward argument between local jobs and the shops/businesses/pubs etc which , to an extent, depend on it, or whether it's demolished and eventually grassed over to enhance the local area - which is a very attractive and lovely area quite close to Sheffield !

Thread drift- If you're going to France don't use the machines at Credit Agricole Bank as they have a €5 surcharge for using them ! (I'm in France à ce moment)

If you are drawing money and are offered options in the EU on a Bank Screen don't use DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) - use whatever the other option is. DCC is a rip off ! Google it.
