  1. And I thought perpetual motion was impossible to achieve. Have to rewrite the laws of physics.😄 echo.
  2. At least that’s in the past tense!😆 echo.
  3. Hey Rockers, how did you get that photo of my parents taken in 1938?😃 echo.
  4. My smart meter is very smart because it’s sat on a storeroom shelf somewhere and, despite being incessantly pestered by my supplier to have it installed, it seems quite content where it is. I’m still capable of reading a meter every month at their request and inputting the numbers into the supplier’s website. That way I know exactly what I’m using and what I need to pay as well. The system still works very well. If it’s not broken why change it! echo.
  5. No, but there are some where you can learn to matriculate!😃 echo.
  6. I suspect hauxwell’s favourite pet is anyone he is fond of because living in the North East I think the term of endearment up there is “Aye up Pet!”😆 echo.
  7. Here, here and then every 3 years after 80, 2 years after 90 and annually after 100.😃 We’ll get these old doddery folks off the roads somehow and leave the younger more proficient drivers to have the tarmac to themselves. My 62 years of experience counts for nothing, I’m sure! But seriously I do agree with regular re-testing and put a green P on the car of those who fail. echo.
  8. That’s one reason why I’ve never had a dog. They Shih tzu too much and often the owners leave the mess and disease for other folks to tread in! echo.
  9. We all learned about house construction when we were in nursery with a tale about three little pigs and a wolf, didn’t we? Our place, once a barn, is solidly built from random limestone with really thick walls (they are in fact inner and outer walls filled with rubble) and held together by lime mortar. The timber used when it was built was hardwood which has seen some beetle infestation but it’s so dense the little devils didn’t get too far with their munching. Over fifty years ago a building inspector said we would have to replace the wooden lintels over the doors due to the woodworm holes. They’d been there for a very long time before that and they’re still there now, solid as a rock. We have a drawing of the place with a thatched roof but at sometime probably when it was altered to become a house that was changed to stone slates and pantiles. The place would get a terrible report in terms eco standards but it retains heat in winter and is cool in summer when it’s hot outside. Our ancestors knew a bit about building. We should give them some credit. echo.
  10. Why, are they used for adding up like an abacus?😄
  11. Never thought you lived in Rochdale Cressida!😄 echo.
  12. What was your uncle called hackey, Trotter?😃 echo.
  13. Hey Padders you’ve upset Doddy big time saying that. He’s turning in his grave and the Diddy Men are now on the march from Knotty Ash towards Sheffield complete with their tickling sticks so you’d better watch out!😃 echo
  14. Bypass hose on a Morris 1100 sprang a leak. It was tremendous fun (NOT) trying to replace it without taking the cylinder head off! The characters I built, which I never knew existed, probably belonged in an X rated film.😁 echo.
  15. That’s possible in Sheffield Padders and I admire you for that but where we live the nearest shop is several miles away and it’s not so much the distance that’s the problem but the danger of walking on lanes without pavements. You’d be lucky to arrive in one piece! One day when neither of us can drive we may have to move into a place where more facilities are at hand because currently we can’t even reach the GP’s by bus but for now I thick we’ll stick and not twist, as the saying goes.😃 echo
