  1. Sadly Martin Lilleker passed away last year - he was a massive champion of Sheffield live music and nice bloke as well
  2. I DJ on CD and will also download tunes and then burn to CD (as you're not guaranteed 2000s or similar that you can plug in data sticks - and cbfa taking a laptop & controller with me when DJing). I think you can tell the difference between 320 and lossless (WAV/Flac) or CD over a big rig in a club - but over small speakers in a busy friday night bar - it doesn't really matter too much.
  3. Sounds good - hopefully see you wednesday
  4. Hi Andy i havent done any karate for a few years - so maybe a good way to get back into it - what style of karate do you do?
  5. Planet Zogg has been running for many years at Plug (we were there at .Zero its predessor) and have just celebarted our 14th Birthday - we've always had very mixed crowd with plenty of 30 and 40 somethings aswell as few 50 and 60 somethings along with the younger Zoggers. As as has already been said - some nights will have an older crowd than others - just check the nights facebook group and check out the pix to get an idea I'm suprised at some of the comments on here as Plug is one of the most un-rough city centre clubs i've ever come across with great security & staff.
  6. Planet Zogg has run parties at Plug for over ten years (amongst many other venues in our 14 year history) and always found it a great venue with management, staff & security who were good to work with and we've had lots of psy acts play there over the years; Cosmosis Laughing Buddha, Deja Voo, Plastic Vibe, Monkey Logic, Far Too Loud, E-Jekt, Re:Creation etc etc We ran monthly for about a dozen years - but we've dropped down to parties a every few months now as we're all getting on a bit & have other things going on! There are other city centre venues that host dance events - prob best getting hold of a sheffield listing magazine for research and giving a few a ring/visit If you were after somewhere out of the city centre - there's quite a few venues that run on temp event licenses BUT they're quite in demand and getting a date may not be easy as so many sheffield events are after the very limited dates they have. Good luck - its tricky starting a new night and doing it in a city you're not from can make it harder - but nothing ventured - nothing gained. (BTW I hope your business parter is not expecting to make any money out o it - cos there isnt any!)
  7. i can recall my granddad saying that - but not too let my gran hear it - otherwise he'd be in big trouble!

  11. If the original poster is french - it might be worth checking out West St purely for the cultural insight into a British saturday night - its not a pretty sight! The pubs/bars around Division St are likely to be a lot suited to someone who is into Pulp (massive generalisation I know) and, as people have said, Pulp drank in the Washington before they made it big and it was part owned by the drummer (which is why it survived as a pub and didnt get turned into a bar/flats) - so well worth a visit. The Rutland and the Showroom bar near the station are good, and for a more traditional pub near the centre, the Bath or Red Deer are worth a visit. If you want to sample some Uk ales - then the pubs round Kelham island are good - with the Shakespeare & Riverside having a younger crowd. Hope you have a good night
  12. Hi - just a heads up - Planet Zogg are doing our annual big free party at Plug that night if that makes any difference to your plans - though i appreciate dates are hard to come by & clashes are sometimes unavoidable. cheers john
  13. A few additions - Tom Goose is in South Africa - so will be replaced by Mr James International playing some good knees up party music plus there'll be 3 deck D&B carnage in the breaks room from DJ Dark Matter!
  14. PLANET ZOGG has a party on Fri 25th May at DLS with the Atomizers. Its a four room bash - banging stuff in the main room, breaks & house in room2, random stuff in room 3 and cafe/chill in room4 - full details http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=984795 Its a long time since straight trance was played at Zogg - it usually mixes up tech-trance, psy, techno & psy breaks - though this next party will be a bit more techno in the main room. If you prefer your more clubby trance - then OTR would be a good bet Fruitisbad is showing his age - I dont think Fatmoon have done a party in sheffield for over 5 or 6 years - possibly longer - Mark & Cheryl moved down south (I think Cardiff/Bristol way)
