  1. This happened literally underneath my window! I was woken up at about 25 to 6 (thereabouts) by an almighty bang, glass smashing tyres screeching etc, so naturally I looked out of my window and saw a blue lorry stalled horizontally across the road and a small car further up the road (away from town) with half the bonnet caved in! The driver of the lorry was out by the time I was watching and just walking around in a daze, while the passenger from the car was sat on the pavement in shock. The driver from the car was still inside, even for a good 10 minutes after the crash happened but he eventually gathered his wits and got out to join the passenger and wait, it was a miracle that nobody was killed, the car was absolutely wrecked (it was hit so hard that the engine flew out of the smashed bonnet and crashed through the door of Starprint!). I'm still not sure what caused it, but they were laying down copious amounts of grit this morning so it was possible it was ice? Or perhaps a lapse in concentration? Anyway it's pretty much sorted now, traffic is passing through and the only sign that there was a crash is boarded up Starprint door and a bit of muck on their wall (presumably oil). Hope this was enough info to satisfy the nosier posters
  2. okay, so maybe "and considering the portions you get for your money it's pretty good!" and "anyone who fancies some well prepared tapas and a nice night" wasn't clear enough. Just to clear it up. I have eaten there. The food is great. The atmosphere is great. I wouldn't review something if I hadn't eaten there, that would defeat the object of a review. Get off your high horse mate, nobody likes an arrogant arse hole.
  3. ohh haha god i need to sort myself out with this internet thing!
  4. alright chill out dude look at where im coming from here i gave a review for a restaurant, which i presumed was the reason for this forum - to give your opinions, then only got replies about how i was endorsing the company so all negative comments, then you came along and it was just like an icing on the cake really. anyway, any replies that are relevant? have you been to jocosa? have you tried any tapas places in sheffield? these are the replies i was looking for.
  5. oh, well i apologise if i overlooked the sarcasm. i was just so accustomed to being under a constant barrage of attacks i do have a sense of humour don't worry, just difficult to read over the internet.
  6. classic, great deal of valuable input there. i'm presuming you're implying that me and my friends are lowlifes or something of the sort? i was expecting a bit more from this forum to be fair, came on with an open mind but so far all ive seen has made me think the exact opposite.
  7. i'm pretty sure that i mentioned i've eaten in there. "I decided to pop in recently to give it another looking, and to my surprise they were advertising the launch of a new kitchen - they have started serving Mexican-style tapas!" look, if people don't want to read a review for a restaurant, don't read one! and dont lecture me about the state of a website ive got nothing to do with! how about you read my post fully before jumping on the bandwagon next time?
  8. Like I said, I'm not the owner mate. If you want to know the origins of the name, go in and ask them?
  9. It's to prevent any old 'riff-raff' coming in I guess! Gets a bit much though, as I'm sure many people expect to go to a few different places in one night, and wearing smart shoes and suit trousers isn't exactly the ideal attire?
  10. call it what you like, i've not used my account up until now so if this is my first active day in a sense, not much else to expect. I'm not going to post anymore up, this is the only thread I'm starting, if you'd like to comment about tapas rather than the fact that I have posted in more than one place about tapas, then feel free.
  11. Not at all! I suppose I am advertising in a way, but not for my benefits, it's a genuinely good eat.
  12. If anyone has ever been to Jocosa bar on West Street, they will know that it has earned it's place. It's sleek and modern inside with a nice colouring to it and on a night out it's a great place to get it started. I felt that there was something missing, however, and hadn't visited it for a while. I decided to pop in recently to give it another looking, and to my surprise they were advertising the launch of a new kitchen - they have started serving Mexican-style tapas! I took a look at the menu and the prices are generous, and considering the portions you get for your money it's pretty good! Being a student, it's also notable that they offer a 10% discount, aswell as for local businesses and lecturers. I've already booked a few tables for me and my friends just before Christmas before we hit the town, looking forward to a good night. I was given a flyer and a business card by the main man and I decided to pass on the good publicity, anyone who fancies some well prepared tapas and a nice night on the big West Street should get down. They have a website I do believe, although it was a work in progress last time I checked, give them a looking if tapas is your thing (if it isn't you should seriously give it a try, I LOVE tapas!) http://www.chimidichanga.co.uk
  13. I would say yes on a whole, although Basement and a few other bars/clubs were telling me and my mates that they were clamping down come 2010, letting only people with smart shoes in! That means no pumps, even if they are plain.
  14. Jocosa bar is my new favourite, friendly, not full of youths and also now serves tapas at great prices and fab quality. The menu is under the name of Chimi di Changa, discounts for students, local businesses and lecturers at 10%!
