  1. 11’s team looking for friendlies. We play regularly but not in a league, we’ve played quite a few league teams and always compete, if you fancy a game, message me here or on 07891729298
  2. As you say, you get it in any walk of life. I think when you give some people a bit of power it goes to their head. You raise another issue actually, the 'a friend of mine' situation. I know you'll always believe your friend over a stranger on an internet forum, but the amount of times I've seen on here people posting something as fact that they've been told from someone else. Your friend for instance, did they definitely have the right paperwork or were they just angry because they'd taken what they thought was acceptable only to be told the Council needed more? If it's related to certificates that allow you to practice, for instance health and safety or insurance, if the correct documentation wasn't supplied, firstly the person processing that would get in trouble for doing their job wrong, and would you really want that person practicing if they didn't have the relevent qualification/h&s certificate/insurance.
  3. Jeez I want her holidays! You get 30 days after 5 years in most cases, 25 days before, unless you work in education obviously. If you're on flexi time you can build up about 12 flexi days a year which is not bad, you have to work long hours every day for that though.
  4. But if everyone took that approach we'd have 18,000 people working for the Council that didn't care, then we'd have more reason to be angry with them. I never said that it wasn't fulfilling my hopes and dreams, I don't do bad in life. I'm just questioning why people think it's ok to be rude to otehrs who are there to help, much like the Police Force and the debate in my eyes applies to both.
  5. Its common place, unfortunately people tend to foget their manners or just don't have them in the first place. I guess it's exhasperated by the fact that we deal with the full spectrum of citizens, many have mental health problems and you can empathise with that and do your best to help them. Its when people get personal and they have no excuse other than being rude that really grates on me. ---------- Post added 28-09-2016 at 15:35 ---------- That's no reason to go on the offensive. I asked questions that I hoped would open sensible debate.
  6. I'm on a public forum, I responded with an opinion and now you're going on the offensive. involved in the tree issue by any chance?
  7. she is essentially teh producer, she does all the stuff behind teh scenes you can;t see, like contact all the people phoning in, shortlist people for speaking, collates all the texts, emails tweets and weeds tehm out for relevence. She also plans the show every day when Toby foster leaves
  8. I did want a discussion, gene responded with an opinion and I responded with an opinion. gene actually came back with a very balanced response. Its a shame not all can be so balanced.
  9. You demonstrate my point very well. "The Council have a lot to answer for" and "As always with the council - the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing". Both sweeping statements that don't take into account the complexities which an organisation the size of the council creates. If you've made a complaint to the council, you'll have a single complaint reference number, everytime you contact the Council you'll be given a seperate interaction reference number. It may confuse you but that doesn't mean there isn't a reason behind it. In terms of not being able to contact the person who is dealing with your complaint, he is probably dealing with a hundred other complaints all about road works and trees. If he had to open his phone line to all of those complainents, he'd never have time to do anything and would probably have a nervous breakdown from teh abuse he'd recieve. In my opinion and experience, those who have to say "its not your fault but I'm angry and frustrated" are usually the ones shouting at someone who just turned up to work to do their job and it's not an excuse for being rude to people (I'm not saying you're rude to people).
  10. Before I continue, I am a Council employee and I make this point out of my own experiences. I know many may disagree but that's kind of the point I want to make. Over the years I've worked for the Council, I've experienced many negative conversations about 'the council'. Obviously some with good cause, many without good cause and many where a lack of understanding has led to frustration. My issue with some of the conversations is how people tend to see the Council as either corrupt, useless or both and blame them for nearly everything they percieve to be wrong, usually with no evidence or having applied no reason to the situation. I'm a resident of Sheffield and so a customer of the council myself as well as an employee, I see my role as serving the people of Sheffield and I do it to the best of my ability. Most of the council's 18,000 employees feel the same. Its the same in every workforce, there's always someone who's work shy and it annoys us as colleagues as it would anyone. But people seem to generalise the entire City Council, that's 18,000 people as all the same and all no good. There's sometimes a culture of blame and a lack of reason amongst the general population towards the Council that I've never witnessed in any other industry except perhaps the Police Force, again a large group of people who inevitably joined the Police to do good and to serve the people. Some of the behaviour I've experienced towards me and colleagues has been absolutely appaling, just because we are council employees and the customer doesn't agree with a course of action or a response, usually something the council have no or little control over. That doesn't mean the customer is right and the council is wrong though, it's a disagreememnt and we live in a society where Council's have no choice but to follow policy and legislation. I have people who have been served harrassment orders because of the threats they have made to me and my colleagues, I have been threatened with my life, just to name a few situations. I guess my question is should Council employees expect this type of behaviour towards them because of the position they take? Do agree that it is a bit of a contradictory situatuion in that council employees take that career path to help and serve, but often suffer abuse because they cannot meet expectations?
  11. We're looking for opposition for Sunday mornings at 11am, we've been going for about 4 years now and have played a mixture of teams that are well established just playing friendlies, league teams with a free weekend or Saturday teams looking to give their rested players a run out. We've also played just groups of mates who fancy a kick about but aren't fussed about playing every week. We can generally always get a pitch and if you're not an organised team we can lend you our spare kit and even players if you're struggling. We only do it for the fun and the beer after really, not too serious and we usually play well spirited games to a reasonably comepetative level. We're aged between about 25-40. Get in touch if you fancy pencilling in a Friendly match at some point or getting a team together. Cheers Alex
  12. Hiya mate, Not sure if you'll have enough players yet but do you fancy a friendly match? We're a local team who only play friendly's but to a fairly decent standard. We're always looking for more opposition and can get a pitch if yours is not ready/free that weekend. Let me know if you're up for it ([email protected]) and we'll get something pencilled in. Cheers Alex
