  1. Just found this forum and had a great hour reading about my childhood stamping ground. The basket bridge and surrounding fields (before M1) were part of a very happy childhood. The pipeline. Various times having to try and explain why I was wet, shoes were covered in cow muck etc. Taking the bike over basket bridge was always a task but riding down Peggy Lane at top speed was a great thrill only to stop with a jolt when the wheels caught in the train lines near (?was it) Thundercliffe Grange. Days spent in Woolley Wood and Concord Park, and the swings etc at the bottom of Woolley Wood near Lees. Bluebells in the wood and out all day without parents worrying. I remember my friend Pauline and I cycling to Hoyland, near Barnsley one day and the parents never knew. Shirehall Road, Beck Road School and Hatfield House were my area although my brother went to Firth Park School. Left Sheffield 35 odd years ago but agree with many others it was a great place to grow up. Keep the memories coming.
