I’ve read the first thread I read the firs5 thread to your reply yesterday, which is what resulted in me putting my pos5 on. I am hoping someone may still b3 around to tell a story maybe they grew up knowing or being told about. I have a fair few Italian names I am connected too through my mums DNA which are; Cura Bazinotti Sterlini Servini Moruzzi Bratessani Feloni Ferarri Lusardi Cobelli Cassli Rabaiotti Marenghi Tedaldi Sidoli These are some of the names, there are more. If anyone can confirm any of these names as being known from the Sheffield, Bradford, Hemsworth area. I would be very grateful I have also posted on Sheffield indexers now too

I am looking for any stories or information at all that may help me in my research to discover my 79 year old Mothers biological father (BF). She recently let me send her DNA in to be tested to help me with my family research! To our shock we have discovered her (BF) is more than likely full Italian. We have a very strong Italian ethnicity coming from her fathers side. Mum was born in Sheffield in June of 1943 which would mean that my Nan conceived around August of 1942. Of course this means she was a war baby and with what I have read and facts that I have I am thinking she was fathered by an Italian internee. We have also found a half sister who was born in 1944 in Bradford at a mother and baby home, the half sisters mother was living in Hemsworth when she fell pregnant. I really feel that my Mums father befriended my Nan during this time which is how mum came to be. Any help would be so much appreciated. The surname of my Nan is Wood. She lived at Arbourthorne at the time of conceiving. Wendy

Long shot as it’s so long ago but my Nan worked at The Raven in around 1941-1945 her name Mary Wood. Does anyone remember her at that time.

My Nan; worked at The Raven in Sheffield in the 60’s when Lawrence (Lol) was the landlord. My Dad says he was landlord for a good while. My Nan was called Mary Wood, Does anyone remember my Nan. Apparently my Mum’s Dad is Italian and I’m thinking my Nan met him at The Raven. I have no idea who he may have been. Any ideas at all? Any help would be so much appreciated. Not sure if you will get this but yes my parents started the talent night. When the snooker table came out to make room for the concert room, we found rats under the floor boards. I remember being scared stiff! Only been there a short time when we found the rats it was disgusting urgh still makes me shudder. We got shut pretty quick though

Hi can anyone help me out at all...I am looking for anyone who remembers an Anthony Higgins... He was in care in sheffield but I am not sure which childrens home he was in... I remember this one as my cousin was in here in early 80's deborah taylor.. she had her first child in the supoported accomodation flats. Anthony was born in 1965 so it would make him around 49 yrs old now..If anypne knew him from this care home or any other I would love to hear from you..
