I'm collecting stories about Sheffield based on what you would say to your younger self. Imagine that you were walking down Fargate or the Moor. Shopping in C & A or Coles. Catching the tram or bus. Walking out of school for the last time or walking into work for the first time. What would you say to yourself.... A paragraph or two would be great. Does anyone have photos of a typical corner shop in late 60's early 1970's? Did you own / work in one. What was it like? How did you order stuff? By phone? Mail? Did you have any favourite or nightmare customers. Love to hear from you.

Looking for your stories about what it was like to be a young hairdressing apprentice in 1969 in sheffield.....Can you remember what it was like. What were some of the funny things that happened? How was it different to hairdressing today? I am writing a follow up to my novel Nowt But Drippin' and one of the characters is 16 when she leaves school and works in a hairdressers. Hi I have written a novel 'Nowt But Drippin' which will be published later this year. It's set in Sheffield in the sixties. Sheffield Forum readers were fantastic in helping me with some of the details. I am now writing a sequel where one of the characters leaves the steelworks to set up his own business making trailers. Is there anyone out there who did something like this or who knows anyone who did?

Hey... this is great. I have a character, an eleven year old girl who is a talented violinist and I wanted her to have also passed some piano exams but I wasn't sure which ones she would have taken in the sixties. Any more information from anyone would be great ...cheers
