  1. I think that the lonely house was where the Gregg family lived. They were feared by most people of that era. ---------- Post added 23-01-2015 at 15:24 ---------- His name was Povey and he bacame Chief Constable of Hull I think. I delivered newspapers to Inkersall House for the Major (army rank) I think about 1960/61. ---------- Post added 23-01-2015 at 15:29 ---------- The kid who grasped the pylon wires was Trevor West. He did survive the fall. ---------- Post added 23-01-2015 at 15:49 ---------- Inkersall house was owned by an army major when I delivered newspapers around 1960/61. Kirks came along some time later.
  2. The blacksmiths was between the Post Office and the Vets (originally the New Inn run by the Helliwells) on Beighton Road. Many a time have I looked over the gate and watched the blacksmith shoeing the horses. ---------- Post added 23-01-2015 at 11:24 ---------- I remember Billy Gregg but I wish I could forget him!!!!
  3. The gospel hall was at one time used as part of the village school. The year was around 1955, I went there and had the shortest journey home. I think he was the first headmaster at Rainbow Forge School.
