  1. Thanks for the tip. I see that Argos sells just the "One for All" brand, some of which are in the Which "don't buys" list. But some of them are in the "best buys" list too. Thanks for the tips.
  2. We're thinking of getting an indoor aerial and freeview PVR to replace cable, but I've read that it's a good idea to test the indoor aerial (with the TV) to make sure it works in your living room. Does anyone know of a place in Sheffield that sells these and lets you try them out and return them if you don't get good reception? Thanks.
  3. If it's normally 90% full when it's emptied, isn't that just the right size?
  4. I asked about this. They say you can put shredded paper in the blue bin but inside a paper bag or cardboard box so it doesn't blow out when the bin is tipped into the truck.
  5. I went there twice when it was in Nottingham and we enjoyed it. They moved to Sheffield because they needed more space and couldn't expand where they were, not because they were failing!
  6. It's bound to vary for different households. For us, the brown bin is a great improvement over the boxes, but the blue bin is no longer big enough now that paper and card are on a 4-week collection. However, they do collect neatly boxed paper and card left beside the blue bin.
  7. I mean the name has been changed in the Pokémon Go game. (I haven't played Ingress, & it never said "Church of Incubus" on the real-world building.)
  8. It's been renamed "Israac Somali Community & Cultural Association". I presume this is because people complained about their kids looking up "incubus" on Wikipedia.
  9. Indeed, this shouldn't require a change to anyone's indoor arrangements. I can see it as a problem for houses with a shortage of space for bins outdoors, but that's all.
  10. I had a good look around there tonight and found some "pickled cabbage" (ingredients: cabbage, salt) in plastic in one of the refrigerated sections, so that's probably the stuff. Obviously I'm going to eat it, but I'm also interested in using it as a starter culture for making my own. (Mine doesn't get ferment much, i.e., get sour enough.)
  11. Thanks for that. I liked the guy who ran it: he was helpful & often watching cricket on TV. ---------- Post added 02-10-2018 at 15:51 ---------- I know both Ozmen sites already, but thanks stupendously.
  12. An upright bin for bottles, jars, & cans will be a lot more convenient for us than the boxes with "hats" (which decayed in the sunlight and fell apart or blew away long ago). My only concern is that we usually fill the blue bin with paper & card in two weeks, so the 4-week collection cycle may be a problem, unless I can pack the stuff down more compactly (sledgehammer?).
  13. Shah's Supermarket (Pakistani, if I recall correctly the flag on the sign) on Abbeydale Road closed a while ago. Did it close completely or move somewhere else?
