Never heard a thing, slept through it, BUT, the next morning Iwas delivering papers on my round, around Wood Street, and remember the damage was incredible.

I was in that night, it was packed, Pete had let too many in and the floor started sinking, there was a mad panic for the door at one point, and it was as hot as hell, but a great night.

Used to live above the Kelvin on Sherde Road when the original Kelvin was knocked down to build the flats. Used to play with a lot of the kids from down there when I was a kid, it was very old and poor area but the people were stars, they would be on their knees donkey stoneing the steps and washing the fronts down all the time. We did not have much then, but we were happy.

Great club The Esquire, I was in one night when it got raided by the police, maybe because of the purple hearts that were getting passed round at that time, I dont know. Anyway, the police made every body give them there name and address, including there neighbours name. The big mistake was, loads gave false names, and before you could get out of the club, they had a copper checking from a Kellys dictionary, if it did not match, you were in trouble. There were three to a cell in West Bar that night. Happy days.

I remember Yorkshire Rose, she was always on, but do you remember Black Velvet, used to have loads listening in to her conversations, turned out , she worked in a massage parlour on Chesterfield Road. Somebody discovered it by a badge she wore, she had described it on air, she was well supprised when that came out.

Sheffield's nightclubs - do you remember...?

Started at the Black Cat on City Road, then onto the Blue Moon on Johnson Street, then to the Mojo at Pitsmoor. Those were the days.
