  1. I am struggling myself today. I've been on the go all day and have just gotten home in time to go to bed. Not helping is the fact that my boyfriend smokes too He's very considerate and will try to smoke away from me but it's so hard. I was good for 2 days but had a few slips today. I'm hoping I can get back on track soon.
  2. prowler, it does sound as though you are having quite a struggle. Perhaps you can find a help line or some counselling, maybe talk to a doctor about this. At this rate you may have to do like jabbers and quit the pills. I hope for your sake this will pass quickly. In the meantime hang in there and keep yourself busy.
  3. I don't think that's the case at all. As with any major change in one's lifestyle, consider this a side effect of quitting. Maybe your body and mind have not quite adapted to the change yes. Like some children who act out for a bit after a divorce. Just a way to cope with things. I'm sure you'll be back to your old self in no time at all. I got quite agressive and unpleasant when I quit smoking last year on the patch. So far on Champix (knock on wood) I'm okay about not biting people's heads off. Well other than for a fraction of a second last night where I had a very strong urge to tackle a poor bystander and run away with his cigarette.
  4. I think this is a great idea. I'll admit when they first banned smoking in public in Ontario I was miffed as a smoker but when I tried to have dinner a few yrs later in a smoking restaurant and it was all around me as I tried to eat I realized it was rather revolting. I had mine outside even though it was allowed inside. This kind of legislation will get many upset but I'm sure it will certainly help some take the step towards quitting and that would certainly be worth it. I should forward this article to my MP to see this legislation brought forward in Canada as well.
  5. misa23 just make sure to stay in tune with how you feel. personally I'm on week 3 of Champix and have not had any or that. I did snap at my kids this morning but that was because they were pushing their limits and I was suffering lack of sleep (not due to Champix don't worry). I was advised to watch for depression. On another note, I'd like to share a success story... a man I play darts with, from whom I first heard about Champix, announced yesterday he is now 9 months smoke-free and going strong.
  6. Maybe try talking to a doctor or pharmacist about the possibility to take something to ease the nausea. I had that constant feeling all day for a while too but it eventually went away. Remember to take it with food and I found a lot of water helps too. Coffee directly following taking the pill somehow made it worst so I wait about half an hour after taking the Champix to have coffee.
  7. I envy you guys so much! I can't wait for the day I start my counter. But I'm a tad worried. Monday I managed a full 8 hrs without smoking and didn't give it a second thought. Today I'm on Day 17 of Champix and still smoking about 10-15/day. It's less than before but still... shouldn't I have been able to quit full stop by now??
  8. prowler, you know if you can get through today, you will come out that much stronger in your fight and the next craving will be easier to beat. You can do it, we're all behind you.
  9. The last time I had a go at quitting (7 months) I had used an online counter from the Canadian Cancer Society. As far as the actual counters go the desktop one from the previous post is probably better because it's more readily available. But this site has a lot of tips & tricks on the site I found extremely helpful, little hints to help with cravings. It also sent supporting emails every now and then. 10. You are definitely all welcome! It would be a fun time. Shall get the grill ready too?!
  11. Kudos to you. Don't worry about the side effects too much, from what I've read in this post so far they should go away soon.
  12. Well done I don't even know you but I am very proud of you. This is really inspiring and I'm sure it will be uplifting to many of us. Keep it up!
  13. No Diianne, you're not the only one to feel that way. Don't let your still smoking 8 per day get you down. As we are all smokers or ex-smokers here we all get how great an achievement you have made thus far. Keep at it, you're doing fantastically!
  14. Jabbers, if women were on this age would become a trivial point. I expect maybe even before the weekend I'll have a few poor saps high on viagra chained inside my closet ready for use on demand This is crazy frustrating but I'm loving it! I actually skipped out on my 2nd smoke break due to the attrocious smell so there is some good in the stink only I stand away from coworkers now as I'm terribly embarassed at going around impersonating "Pepe Le Pew" (sp?)
