  1. Just to remind people that this fight is still on-going. The council might think they can railroad the people of Heeley but we aren't going down without a fight!!
  2. You're welcome Soloman 1. Please let anybody else who might be interested know as well. The trees coming down is bad enough but the plans for the widening of the road and the insertion of a bus lane that will only be of real use once a day for an hour is just ridiculous!! ---------- Post added 14-02-2015 at 16:26 ---------- It seems that Sheffield City Council are hell bent on destroying the very fabric of Heeley!!
  3. Hi Fanfar Sorry to hear that you and yur daughter aren't well. I was ill myself all last week and hardly left at all!! The walk around the area where the trees are to be removed went really well. At one point there was some 30 people traipsing the streets. the main public meeting to discuss the proposed road widening and tree felling is taking place on Tuesday evening 17.02.15, 7.30pm at the Heeley Institute. You are more than welcome to come along. Also if you know anybody else who maybe interested let them know about the meeting as well!! Many thanks
  4. Thanks for that Moosey. I wouldn't feel confident about taking this course of action but I have passed your comments on Councillor Jack Scott to see what he makes of it. I have a feeling we're flogging a dead horse but will keep going!! ---------- Post added 13-02-2015 at 11:45 ---------- Anybody interested what the proposed changes are for the road widening and which trees near the farm are to be felled, , then come along to the farm tomorrow morning (Saturday 14 February 2015) at 11am; meet by the post-box on Anne's Road next to the farm entrance.
  5. Hi fanfa I'm afraid MJ01 is right, freedom of information only covers public sector funded organisations. I think the only way that we could get to look at Viewpoint Management Company records would be through the courts and I'm not sure there is enough evidence for that. This is looking as though an illegal act has been carried out but i'm unsure as to whether or not the Council has the resources to chase it up. I'll email Councillor Jack Scott and see what he has to say. Are you coming to the public meeting about saving the trees on Prospect Road?
  6. I doubt that they were stolen for their timber. The trees, whilst being 30 year old, were set Ash trees and not that substantial. A lot of effort for very little wood. Also when I spoke to the guys felling the trees, they seemed genuine professional tree fellers who knew what they were doing. if they'd have wanted the wood I think they would have felled the lot. From what I can gather Councillor Jack Scott is still investigating this matter but I've a feeling he's going to get nowhere fast!! ---------- Post added 11-02-2015 at 11:37 ---------- On another vein, anybody interested in saving the trees on Prospect Road from being felled for an unwanted bus lane, their is a public meeting on Tuesday 17 February 2015, 7.30pm at The Heeley Institute on Gleadless Road. All invited to come and have your say.
  7. I have requested a freedom of information report from the Council and there is no record of them either requesting or authorising the removal of these trees. Given that it looks as though the managing agent for the estate is the culprit but they are denying all knowledge as these actions were illegal and carry risk of prosecution.
  8. How do you know this DenadaInnit? Nobody around here was informed! ---------- Post added 04-01-2015 at 18:40 ---------- It really feels to me that we are in Tree Wars!! May the force be with us!!
  9. Yeah jack Scott tipped up on my doorstep as well just now. Apparently he knew nothing about it and said that his office should be notified of any work of this nature - or words to that effect. He has also assured me that he will investigate and chances are the trees will be replaced. As Fanfa says not much help for the trees already felled but better than nothing. Jack also said that there have been instances on Norfolk Park when people have just chopped down trees for their own personal use without any permission. At this point in time I'm willing to give jack the benefit of the douby; he has after all responded very quickly to irate emails. Will keep you posted!!
  10. Well there plan failed last week then didn't it when the gritter wagon came out in the snow. I don't see how they can't grit Myrtle Road, it's a well used road and SO steep!! Amey, the company contracted to run council services, are at the back of all this. Just cosy cutting. Makes my blood boil!! I don't for one minute think the complaint has come from the residents, its a council thing. that's why you need to email the councilors. if you PM me your email address I'll send you a copy of the email that I have sent.
