  1. There is no such law, and there, probably, never will be. It is just electioneering twaddle. What there is .... since 2015 .... is the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act, which includes the responsibilities on specific bodies to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. Would you not think that that is worthwhile? There is enough protection within the law and guidance to avoid over-reaction. From The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (Risk of Being Drawn into Terrorism) (Amendment and Guidance) Regulationsᅡᅠ2015 (legislation.gov.uk) : ‘Safeguarding’ is the process of protecting vulnerable people, whether from crime, other forms of abuse or (in the context of this document) from being drawn into terrorist-related activity. The current UK definition of ‘terrorism’ is given in the Terrorism Act 2000 (TACT 2000). In summary this defines terrorism as an action that endangers or causes serious violence to a person/people; causes serious damage to property; or seriously interferes or disrupts an electronic system. The use or threat must be designed to influence the government or to intimidate the public and is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause.

  3. Currently, the "Friends" want an independent inspection/survey to confirm whether demolition is the only option.
  4. "Prevent" is not a "de-radicalisation programme". It is a first-step safeguarding process and may sift out any referrals with no further need (currently - the majority). "Channel" is a voluntary de-radicalisation programme to which Prevent candidates may be invited. Both Prevent & Channel are currently perceived to be ineffective.
  5. There is a public meeting, on site, this Friday 5th August at 6pm.
  6. However, guaranteed, excessive gains for supplying a utility (the provision of which was handed to you on a plate) is unacceptable, immoral and needs sorting before it leads to civil unrest.
  7. Interesting to see that applications from NI have remained static for the same period. Applications from mainland UK have increased, but by nowhere near as much. (40% I think) It would be worthwhile to compare with the trend in university applications, for the same period, throughout the EU.
  8. What is with the "of course"? Profit figures are quoted. You then say taxes come off those figures. You were mistaken. End of.

  10. The figures quoted are net of tax.
  11. Not been the same since the fish-nibblers closed down.
