I work in Dubai where there are a lot of Indians in the office. Some of them use the word "expired" which I suppose is true but does sound a tad harsh.

Stephen Fry - could listen to him for hours. I have his autobiographies, they're a brilliant read. Miriam Margolyes - watched her being interviewed numerous times, bloody hilarious! Eric Morecambe - I miss him The Two Ronnies - I miss them Brian Blessed - a great story teller Morgan Freeman - to hear his calming voice after the above Sullivan Stapleton - for the phwoar factor Graham Norton - find him intriguing for some reason Lee Mack - just for some great belly laughs Tim Vine - as above It would have to be a big table! -
Nut bar in Meadowhell wheres it gone?
chillirobbo replied to Happyanna's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I used to go there a lot, especially before Christmas. I remember when it first opened, along with Crawshaws, the greengrocers, egg stall, fishmongers, wine shop (Oddbins I think) and Pollards café. Is that bit still called Market Street because I doubt it's anything like a market now -
Twiglets Cheese Moments Scampi Fries Beef Space Raiders Beef Hula Hoops Roysters Steak Bubble Crisps Salt & vinegar Discos Salt & vinegar Square Crisps Cheese & Onion Ringos (are these still around?) Beef & onion Walkers (have they brought these back? The steak ones are rank) Those Piglet crisps from the 80s Beef Monster Munch but they're still not the same as years ago. Costs me a fortune in the expat shop. They charge 35 dibs (£7.00) for a multipack of Square Crisps. Needs must though.

So it's ok for customers to speak to (shout at) shop staff like they're a piece of crap?
-
Don't think it's reached the UK yet (thank god), but the amount of self entitled people over here who just stand at the checkout and wait til the poor assistant pack their bags. I've even seen them shout at them if they don't do it. I'd love to see them try something like that in Tesco. These are usually the same people who beep their horn for a shop worker to come out and bring them a cup of coffee. Lazy twots.

HMRC online and phone - an endless circle of nonsense
chillirobbo replied to *_ash_*'s topic in General Discussions
Since we moved over here we've had to complete a tax form every year. At first I thought no problem, I can do it online. Er, no. Because we live abroad we have to print, fill in and send hard copies via DHL to the tune of £40..... Work that one out. -
I hate doing it, but as I live in Dubai I have to tone my dialect down a tad. This still doesn't stop people asking where I'm from though. When I've said the UK they immediately think London. I'm apparently also from the US, Australia, South Africa and Germany..... I work with a lot of Indians who think I sound like Geoffrey Boycott. I'm female Could be worse. One of my mates here who's a Brummy was on the phone to someone and got asked if he was Chinese

What Day Is The first Day Of The Week?
chillirobbo replied to nickycheese's topic in General Discussions
I've always thought it was Monday. I'm now living in Dubai where Sunday is the first day. Friday is their holy day plus some people (not all, however) get Saturdays off. Years ago though, their weekend was Thursday and Friday. I've confused myself now -
They have a 'graduation' day over here when a child leaves nursery

We just had a 'do' on the school grounds outside the assembly hall on our last day. The teachers did a BBQ and the 'cool' kids played at being DJs for the afternoon. This was back in 91, mind. Only seems like yesterday though. Still got the photos. Bumbags, Sweater Shop jumpers, BK trainers, perms. The whole shebang

My nan and grandad used to call the cooked rind on bacon, crozzle. Lovely memories of going to their house after school and having bacon butties with red sauce (and crozzle) on white bread cut into quarters for tea and watching Sons and Daughters ont telly

Were you born in Sheffield
chillirobbo replied to CorkerSWFC's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Born in NGH in 1975. Lived in Wincobank til 2005 then moved to Kimberworth. Took the plunge and moved to Dubai in 2011. Not been back to Sheff since 2013. I miss home -
Tried smoking twice. First time I was about 8 when me and a friend found one of her mum's cigs. The second time was at college, had one drag and had a cold for a week! Hate the smell of smoke on clothes and hair but for some reason I love the smell of unlit cigarettes
