  1. It wasn't a paper fax he used but "Burafax" a system used for the transfer of official documents, see last section "Don't let fax get in the way of a good story" : BBC Website
  2. Is the ranking aimed at potential Undergraduates ? If so, what's the point in including a Research value ?
  3. The info with patch 4099950 mentions that it should be applied BEFORE 4088875 ( Windows 7 ) . Patch 4088875 needs patch 4100480 applying to prevent a priviledge escalation bug. So sequence appears to be uninstall 4100480 then uninstall 4088875. Then apply 4099950, re-apply 4088875 re-apply 4100480. Easy ! , only 4088875 won't re-appear in the patch list after it's been removed ! I'm glad I've only got a couple of PC's to patch. The tech blokes at my Uni will probably need therapy after sorting this mess out on several thousand machines...
  4. Supertram Park and Ride at Nunnery Square off the Parkway is £60.50 per month. Works out at £3 per day and unlimited tram journeys. Takes less than 10 minutes to get from Nunnery tram stop to Fitzalan Square.
  5. Or you could use a Park and Ride tram ticket from Nunnery Square. £18 a week, £60.50 a month. Get off the tram at the University of Sheffield stop and a 15 minute walk towards the HallamShire Hospital along Glossop Road then down Clarkhouse Road and onto Park Lane.
  6. The internal carriage design can have a major influence on passenger comfort as well as technical capacity despite the external mechanical dimensions being the same. I've travelled in cars physically larger than my own but had less internal space due to it's design. new tram has 2 more seats, 5 less standing than 100 series according to link : https://www.stagecoachbus.com/supertram/tram-train There must be 2 hidden seats on the existing trams as I've only managed to count 84. We'll see how well the 3 new trams work when they're included on the main yellow/blue routes at busy times...
  7. I saw one of the new 200 ones at Castle Square stop yesterday. It looked like a skinny version of the existing model 100 but with fewer seats. The seats looked thin, hard and closer together. There appeared to be no standing room in the articulated areas where 4 adults can stand on the current models when it gets busy. Indeed there appeared to be less standing room altogether. Hopefully not as the existing yellow tram from Middlewood can sometimes be full before it reaches Hillsborough ! It will cause chaos if the capacity is lower but the number of trams/service stays the same. Despite their age I think the Sheffiled tram is indeed "Super" compared to the design used in other cities.
  8. "-Nunnery Square- can't pay for parking separately and i've already bought my tram ticket" Yes you can. £2.50 a day from the machine, just select parking only from the options. Card ticket with barcode on it. Machine will keep day tickets when you exit at the barrier.
  9. It doesn't. The nte5c is a toolless replacement for the nte5a with a clip-on faceplate, you'd still need the matching Mk4 VDSL faceplate or a plug in filter. ( The Mk3 filter won't fit ) There's no difference in filter design between the BTOpenreach VDSL2 faceplate Mk3 and Mk4, only the fitting. BT/Openreach would also charge anyone that alters/damages the incoming phone wires on the back of the faceplate and created a fault/loss of service as that is classed as their equipment.
  10. If you have a modern master telephone socket that should have a cover on the lower half that can be removed with 2 screws ( NTE5a) : you'll need a VDSL faceplate and a replacement cover : https://www.amazon.co.uk/GENUINE-BT-Openreach-Interstitial-Compatible/dp/B00NMUXPOS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465971130&sr=8-1&keywords=vdsl2+faceplate+mk3 https://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-Openreach-Replacement-Front-faceplate/dp/B01786ZDAU/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465971196&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=nte5a+replacement+cover The VDSL faceplate fits to the existing phone socket, the replacment cover is then fitted in the front with 2 longer screws supplied in the VDSL faceplate pack. Sky router connects to upper socket with suppllied cable. Phone connects to phone socket. Leave it connected for up to 10 days to allow the Sky Dynamic Line Management ( DLM ) to setup your line for "best" speed.
  11. Although Microsoft may not be creating new features for Windows 7 there are definately new updates. There are new security updates every 2nd Tuesday of each month. If you're concerned about the "nagware" to upgrade to Windows 10, change the update setting to "Check for updates but choose to download and install". That way you can manually exclude any updates that try to upgrade to W10. Do an internet search to list the patches to exclude. There are others as well as KB3035583 There is also a utility called GWX that will prevent W10 from being downloaded onto a windows 7 PC.
  12. https://fix10.isleaked.com/ Also note the link for Windows 7 & 8.1 near the top of the page. https://fix10.isleaked.com/oldwindows.html Not sure if it's true but read on another forum that Windows 10 logs and reports pretty much everything to Microsoft. What Microsoft has admitted to tracking is the tip of the iceberg...
  13. At quiet times of the day it's no more dangerous than crossing any main road. It's location has a clear view in both directions. The crossing on Commercial Street near Fitzalan Square is more dangerous when the lights aren't working !
  14. The £60 charge is if the fault is within your property... Locate the master telephone socket and carefully remove the faceplate : http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-master.html Plug the router into the socket behind the faceplate using only the white filter and cable supplied by Sky. Test the filter by swapping it with another filter in you have one. Speed still bad : leave it connected and ask Sky to send an engineer. The fault is on BT's side of the socket. You won't get charged. Speed better and connection stable : look on the back of the faceplate and carefully remove/bend-back any wires connected EXCEPT those on contacts 2&5. Replace faceplate and plug filter/cable back into front of faceplate. Speed should still be better/stable and no engineer visit required.
  15. I'm not a gamer at all and don't recognise those titles, so no promises but this is the GT730 i bought : GT730 ( supplied with low profile bracket )
