  1. I note that the City of London's private police force aka Metropolitan Police just HAD to stick its nose into our supposed ''democracy'' (democracy in the words of Rowan Atkinson's brother meaning ''elect your own dictator'') . . . Yes we have to have a system but one that is clearly defined and flexible . . . Moral low lifes such as BoJo and milk snatcher (who was quite properly sacked for bankrupting the country) need to be identified in their corruption . . . My family was relevant from the 19th century in the then richest city in the country, my father being editor and publisher of Sheffield's daily business paper in the late 40s and early 50s . . . I do not desire that all we have worked for to be hi-jacked by a bunch of bullsh---rs masquerading as guardians of our truth . . . As my mother used to say - Those that got them in will get them out . . . QED (anytime) . . .
  2. Got turned round from the scene involving a Bradwell Skips lorry shortly after the occurrence just after midday Friday . . . Missed the resulting chaos . . . However, after recording and speed scanning state TV's Look North and so-called Independent TV's puerile Calendar prog some 5 hours later, Hey Presto ! - ABSOLUTELY ZERO COVERAGE of an extremely serious and relevant LIGHT RAIL occurrence at a busy, light controlled city junction . . . This is a junction where there are NO PEDESTRIAN INDICATORS and road traffic frequently ignores (or gets confused with) the in-situ protocols . . . Let us hope that the Rail Accident Investigation Branch is able to prevail upon the relevant authorities to initiate the relevant SAFETY PROCEDURES at this very dangerous Light Rail / Road Traffic / Foot Traffic interface in order to obviate the likelihood of possible future fatalities . . .
  3. I would like to thank the two ladies whom, I believe, looked after my father-in-law ''George'' after they took him to their home upon finding him walking in a place of danger at White Lane near Gleadless Townend on Tuesday 22 June . . . We have tried to get further info regarding his care but, as with all things dementia, it is far from easy . . . If this was indeed the case, any advice forthcoming to prevent a recurrence could possibly be of help . . . Absolute thanks one again . . .
  4. Primemover 70 again . . . I am a pensioner on supposedly index linking (whose goalposts are regularly sought for moving/changing) . . . Occ pensionwise I now find myself 6.5 pence a week worse off ! . . . Incidentally, I note that Civil Service pensioners' 0.5% 2021/22 increase remains at that rate until 2026 . . . Bet that wasn't touted by our wonderful media ! . . . Be humble sire, be humble . . .
  5. I see the last financial year did not increase the Persnal Allowance . . . As this was prepared BEFORE the pandemic restrictions, it makes me wonder what was really known . . . So, 2020 was spent (literally) with a Value For Money cut in real terms) . . . This F Year has raised P Allowance by £50.00 ! ? - another VFM cut . . . As I am fortunate enough to have a small occ pension, the greedy, grabbing, rich Tory Ivory Tower so-called chancellor has graciously allowed me to keep mere pence of my so-called index-linked raise . . . What index ? you may well ask . . . Never mind, he says, we'll just sock it to the poor old pensioners, who have paid down the years, as usual . . .
  6. Just been to Asda petrol station at Manor Top . . . No kiosk so payment is by card only . . . . You do NOT get a receipt even if you ask for one . . . What you DO get is a £1.00 surcharge for using the system meaning that for £15.00 of fuel indicated you get £15.00 on the pump but only £14.00 worth of fuel . No staff . . . No receipts only a small sign stating ''contact a colleague . . . Obviously an image at the pump is essential . . . CAVEAT EMPTOR . . .
  7. When I was at primary school in the Fifties there were two brothers in my class . . . One of them drowned in the then Millhouses swimming pool . . . Never went there personally but can remember the Sheffield Star pool photograph with ax ''X'' marks the spot ID . . . A tragedy . . . Maybe a reason to have revamped it . . .
  8. 1345 Just seen what looked like a Lancaster climbing in a circle at Wadsley Bridge B4 disappearing in to cloudbase . . . Helo appeared to be on station also . . . FOUR prop engines, twin plectrum-shaped rudders/tailplanes, unique engine sound . . .
  9. Been trying to contact Martin & Co for last 2x days on different phone numbers . . . They keep cutting to voicemail . . . Unusual, maybe . . .
  10. BIU🙂 Large red & white helo just landed . . .
  11. Massive fire at Owlerton since 0030 Sat 4 July
  12. Stop paying the ******** . . . Easy . . .
  13. If this is any use to any one . . . At about 1000 ths morning a tortoiseshell cat was missed by #35 bus bv struck by a car near junction of Fox Hill Road and Aysgarth Road. Bus driver raid heard the round but thought puss jumped up a nearby stone wall. The at was NOT run over . . . Hope this helps someone . . .
  14. Wow! That prompted some comment . . . My old man was editor and publisher of the daily business paper of the richest (ie cash cow) city in the country in the late 40s and early 50s. My now S postcode city. At beyond retirement age I have an idea of what I'm on about. As long as our democratically positioned reps are trying their best, then so be it. Like it PROVED tho, with itemisf council tax/poll tax bills please. Thatcher connection is interesting, for a mere shopkeeper's daughter and co-inventor of annther great con - " whipped " ice cream. More(on) her later. ---------- Post added 19-09-2018 at 04:42 ---------- Once upon a time there was a shopkeeper's daughter charged with the ultimate responsibility of running a rophistiated Western economy. One day, an Near Eastern dictator wandered in to Maggie's corner shop and requested help with his " defence " re-supply after the 1984-1989 Iran/Iraq conflict. " Of course we can help Mr Hussein " came the reply, conveniently forgetting that his name backwards, was Maddas. " Cheers Margeret " came the reply. " Can you put it on the slate ? ". Needless to say, the guy didn't pay and said S W Economy was left with a bankrupting hole to fill. Poll tax did not work, the country degenerated in to rioting and MT was sacked. But, hey, so long as the " elect your own dictator " " democrats " are SEEN to be trying their best, show me a better system.
